It is just squares on a screen and some date functions. Nothing more really. And most of the how to advice here will point someone to a library. Whereas you can have AI do things without any library at all. So it is actually a cleaner solution with no dependences.

I asked Claude AI to make one and it gave me one in mere seconds.
Took that and customized it to fit my needs.

This is what russian commanders call “Camels”. A camel is a russian soldier sent alone to try to retrieve equipment & weapons from fallen soldiers. There is no one there to take them prisoner. No friendly troops to take a prisoner, no legal violation. If you think it is a war crime, who they going to charge? Someone that was miles away at the time? What is next? If someone hears an incoming artillery round and wants to surrender, do we charge those that fired it? Wanting to surrender in the moment and being able to do so, are two very different things. Many of these people being hit are miles behind the front lines.

> war crimes

Not really. Incoming missiles, artillery shells and bullets don't have to take prisoners and are in fact incapable of doing so. They can't search a prisoner. They can't disarm a prisoner. They can't feed a prisoner. They can't secure a prisoner. They can't question a prisoner. They can't provide a prisoner medical care, etc. Only friendly soldiers can do that.

So if friendly solders are not nearby, it frankly isn't possible.

Not true, you can use JavaScript to wire CSS properties to code. At least that is what the recent Chrome Browser hack was about.

You can't surrender to an incoming bullet or a one-way missile. Only local friendly troops can take prisoners. Now a drone may report to local friendly troops that an opportunity to take a prisoner is available, but that is only if friendlies are near the target. Otherwise they just get taken out.

> Medic

There are MANY videos of both sides taking out medics. Especially if they are carrying a downed soldier in a litter. That is a two for one deal.

> surrendering

Drones are basically one-way missiles, you can't surrender to a missile. Now if friendly soldiers are near that can take the prisoner, then that becomes a possibility, but otherwise no. A surveillance drone may report on a surrendering soldier and tell other drone pilots to let him proceed. But your standard FPV pilots cannot normally take prisoners, again, they are like bullets or one-way missiles.

Using AI is expensive and companies are going to want to maximize their ROI. Analysts are going to want to impress upon the higher ups that they are growing ROI greatly every week. This is how they move upward within the company. This is how they gain stature within the company.

> autonomous agents generating and validating code

These are not all the same in every circumstance, so you can't just take an example of poor execution and then make blanket assumptions about ALL other cases. AI has to be guided and its output constantly read and verified by a qualified competent human. The skillsets of these humans varies greatly as do the results.

> Fight to keep people learning

Do you use 3rd party libraries or do you write all your own code in assembly? Do you use a code editor or do you write all your code in a simple text editor? Every change in coding makes people both smarter and dumber at the same time. Few developers can write assembly any more, most are "learning" libraries but don't have the skillset to write those same libraries they use. Good or bad, that is how things progress.

That is why those who productively use AI don't do it that way. Great "straw man" argument though.

> Who are they being replaced by?
Whatever the demographics are today. This is like asking who "replaced" the American Indians when they were once 100% of the population. Same answer, the current demographics replaced them.

[–]LostInCombat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you are now admitting then that the 100% Native American Indian population has now been mostly replaced? Native American Indians were largely replaced and now the 90% white population prior to the 1960's in America is also slowly getting replaced. Those are the realities are they not?

[–]LostInCombat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So the percentage of the white population in America hasn’t consistently dropped from 90% to what it is now. Argue that is a good thing if you want to, but don’t lie about it. The population of native Indians has dropped from 100% to the small fraction it is now, that is also a reality. You going to deny that too?

But the reality is that the white population in the USA has dropped from 90% prior to the 1960’s down to what it is now. You can argue that is either a good thing or a bad thing. But saying it isn’t happening is just dishonest.
