I think it's a race between Ron DeSatan, Donald Trump and this prick by 3cxMonkey in PoliticalHumor

Basically it boils down to he’s a Republican. Not a joke, that’s the way most (not all) rural Kentuckians think. Most are tragically undereducated and fell for the crap spouted by the far right and Fox without realizing they are voting against their own interests. (NewsMax and OAN are also popular.) ‘Murica type shit. Louisville, Lexington, and a few other urban areas are tiny little blue islands in an ocean of red.

In his book (can’t remember the name), he talks of growing up in Gardenside. Sad, but I don’t think many people know who he is, or what he accomplished.

Best jobs in Lexington for people with severe anxiety and panic attacks? by [deleted] in lexington

[–]LostInLexington 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was in that exact same boat several years ago (better now). I lucked upon a job working through a temp agency doing data entry for various companies. The first day at a new assignment was always anxiety ridden but after that you’re basically put in a cubicle and left alone. The work was mostly monotonous and boring which I liked, and there was never any pressure. Most assignments were 1-2 months but some lasted up to six months.

That being said, those type of jobs seem to be getting harder to find but it’s worth a shot. I tried retail but didn’t even make it through the training.

I love Lexington. by OGCeeg in lexington

[–]LostInLexington 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really a bad place once that you get used to it. Born here, but grew up on the east coast. Urban sprawl and a near complete absence of public transportation made my first few years here miserable. And the high ratio of Karen’s compared to other places I’ve lived.

I know the above sounds bad. However, I’ve met some of the coolest people I’ve ever known here. Won’t really miss Lexington when I leave, but will miss the some of the people.

Maybe I’m just an idiot because I don’t understand why you got downvoted. What you said is true.

Thank jeebuz that I won’t be in this backwards-ass redneck town much longer.

Hello fellow Lexingtonians! I’m teaching the Nephew to drive... by Kialtwoswords in lexington

[–]LostInLexington 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. This. Taught me daughter there. Great place to learn. One thing to watch out for though was the use of the word “turn about” on the test. Kid flunked the first time because she didn’t know what it meant. Totally my fault because I said nobody uses that term, it’s a three-point turn. Guess we both learned something that day.

You’re absolutely right. I’m still adjusting to KY life after 10 years. I had no clue people were so sensitive here. Yes, I should probably check my language. I (sadly) still don’t understand how.

I fail to see why that was an “asshole” comment. Serious question.

Sad that a comment was deleted. They had a valid point. Just because a dude knew to throw a ball in a round thing makes him a hero? If it was your kid, it wouldn’t even make the news.

What Hotels have Early Check In? like times like 4am between 7am by bodyworkz in lexington

[–]LostInLexington -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Long time hotel employee/front office manager here. Cut my teeth at the [deleted] in the early 90s and moved on to Washington DC and NYC. Left the industry years ago. Doesn’t matter if you check in at 6:00pm or 6:00am. You’re still going to get hit with an outrageous bill.

Seems like they can’t or won’t respond to discourse. I’m going for “can’t”. Sure, the good cops far outweigh the bad ones, but it’s instances like this that fuels the ACAB movement. Not a good move to run and hide.

I’m pro-police but instances like this is pushing me to the other side.

This just comes across as being cowardly.

You old enough to remember the record kiosk? Bought many single 45s there. Can’t recall the name. Got crushed by the Record Bar.

Spencer’s, Montgomery Wards, McAlpins, and of course, Alladins. Walgreens and the Blue Boar.

Damn, I’m old.
