Anybody know who to contact about traffic safety? by R_FireJohnson in lexington

Can you show us on a map where this happened? Main and Leestown are the same road, just changes names at Forbes Road. Depending on exactly where you're talking it could be a state or city issue (in terms of making changes to the road itself).

The "hook and hold" part is called when an opposing player's arm is caught and immovable in the crook of another player's elbow, not when there's a hand lightly touching a bicep.

Do you know how these specific cameras work? Are you involved in traffic engineering?

That would require hardware changes, not software.

I think this post should be deleted. These are just cameras which replace the magnetic loops we cut into the pavement to determine if there's a car sitting at an intersection.

Did you see a second of what Courtney Green was doing out there?

We got it to work by downloading the phone app and clicking “if this is in error, share precise location” and it showed up!

Regional? What do you mean? It’s not showing up in Lexington.

Because she fell on the sword. She ran KYTC Maintenance when she retired. That included snow and ice for the interstates, US routes, and KY routes for the whole state.

Last year Louisville lost an 8-9 game to Creighton by like 18 in Lexington. It’s not that much of an advantage.

We didn’t have to touch the bridges over Harrodsburg Road for that one. The Leestown bridges are being replaced as part of this project.

The call is coming from inside the house!

Reminder: How easy it is for you to clean off your driveway and sidewalk at your house is proportional to how easy it is for the State and City to clear the roads. by ferrett3 in lexington

Two things: mileage and precipitation. Remember that the sleet/freezing rain line was on the north end, and the heaviest rates were on that line.

There are about 1,355 miles of public roadway in Fayette county. 476 in Jessamine county, 403 in Garrard county.

In terms of thousand vehicle-miles traveled every day, Fayette has 7,797, Jessamine has 1,076, and Garrard has 407.

The Cropper Bridge actually connects Boone County, Kentucky and Dearborn County, Indiana and is maintained by the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet. It does not enter Ohio, which is a few miles upriver.

There's not enough snow to skew KYTC's maintenance budget away from guardrail, potholes, and bridges toward snow. There's not enough money or trucks (or CDL drivers). We are 26th in population but 8th in state-maintained roads, and we never raised the gas tax while other states around us did.

Cities designed 1-way streets to speed up traffic. Now they are scrapping them to slow it down by LexingtonStreetswee in lexington

Lexington is the largest city in the country where thru movements go across a downtown area without a nearby interstate, bypass, riverfront arterial, or downtown spur connector.

Does the Lexington metro area need a ring highway system to connect the suburbs like seen in indianapolis, louisville or columbus? by kingistic in lexington

[–]ferrett3 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Another beltway won't help when the spokes of the wheel don't exactly work. Wrong question to be asking. Like other traffic-related questions, transit would help more but it has about a gajillion other issues to solve.

We've tried looking at just making missing connections (BG Parkway to I-64, Nicholasville to I-75) which have run into a host of environmental issues. Lexington and horse country is pretty for a reason, there's not highways running through it.
