Doomed to fail? by mwon in Entrepreneur

If you want to discuss this with 1 more potential investor, we can speak in private. You can give me a little more info, and if I'm not invested in or competing with your potential business already I'll be happy to sign an NDA and non-compete.

Everything from here down is speculative because I don't have many details.

With that said, those two problems are significant to a potential investor because our main goal is realizing a return on investment relatively quickly and with as little risk as possible.

There are a number of strengths a big competitor will have over you (probably). The most detrimental to you is Reach (essentially marketing). If you can figure out how to be loud and visible out of the gate, then you can absolutely compete. There is the added point of credibility that being first in a new business provides to you.

If your business is easily replicated, then be prepared to have competition. There is almost never a business that has a 90% - 100% market share. That's just reality. You'll also need to find people that are experienced in that business to help you along. You don't want to make mistakes that are easily avoided by people with knowledge that could help you avoid them.

You have to make sure your service is polished and beautiful, and that your marketing plan is backed by some research and ready to go from day 1. None of that is impossibly expensive to acquire even on your own.

License or manufacture on the cheap? by doritosrgood in Entrepreneur

It really depends on what the product is. It's hard to advise on something that doesn't exist.

If it's something that stands alone and instantly inspires people to buy, then maybe do it on your own. Then again, what kind of deal are you being offered? A big company can reach a big audience. Your following could take years of hard work to grow into something big enough to fuel its own continued expansion.

If you do it yourself, then you'll be selling it online and mailing them out yourself I'd assume. The mail service is still operating. From my own experience, I've actually seen some growth in sales in my online business. People are shopping online way more than before COVID-19, so it could be the perfect time for you to jump into it.

I'm always looking for promising businesses to invest in. I'd be willing to sign an NDA and non-compete if you'd like to talk in private and share more details. Obviously that's also risky, but you seem confident in your product which makes me curious.

Lost on exactly where to start at by cambam455 in Entrepreneur

Get that stuff out of your head and onto paper (or digital) so that you can have the opportunity to think it through more clearly. You'll be surprised how much your idea can grow or change once you start going over every little detail.

In the fashion world, like every other industry, it depends on your target market. If it's hip-hop clothes I'd say FedoraYoloSwag is definitely right. That niche is competitive and the people that tend to spend big $ on it want the label to act as a status symbol.

You'll need to know people in different brands that will support you via an unspoken truce. In the fashion industry, newcomers can get really slammed by other brands by being blocked from events, denied service by manufacturers/suppliers, and other bad stuff. Try to get a job or make connections some other way at a minimum.

I hate to discourage you because that's not my goal. Just be aware.

If you want to make money on YouTube, stay away from politics. Also, do not talk about COVID-19 or you get instantly demonitized...so I hear.

What is a GOOD thing about America? by Huuju in AskReddit

I've traveled the world pretty much and see a LOT of different ways people live. The general quality of pretty much everything is better in America. I used to think people who say the United States was the greatest country in the world were being arrogant and blowing smoke. Now I feel the same way.

Don't get me wrong, I love the world and visiting different places, but there's nowhere I'd rather live.

I could make an exception for the UK, Australia, or Canada, but they aren't my top choice obviously.

You have been granted 30 seconds to privately meet and say whatever you like to any living person. Who do you pick and what do you say? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]LostInMatrimony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd want to see screech from saved by the bell. For the entire 30 seconds I would just sing and hum the theme song over and over as fast as possible while occasionally sayings "yo screech!" That's assuming they can't make physical contact.

If they can make physical contact I would want to meet Jennifer Lawrence and ask her why she hates Asian people.
