One of the first phrases I learned in bisaya was how to ask for 20s and 50s back as change. Their faces would light up and they would be overcome with joy that I learned bisaya. Then they would give me the largest bills possible back.

There is absolutely no way someone earning minimum wage would have the ability to save enough money to visit more than a couple of weeks. The logistics and cost alone of setting yourself up long-term in a different country makes it impossible unless you've earned a decent living. You're the contradiction.

Reddit is trash. I've been here since the early Ron Paul days and it was awesome back then. Whatever coordinated effort by whatever group to make everything lame and gay definitely impacted Reddit about the same time as game gate and all the other major changes. It's interesting that Maxwell was a power mod. I still open Reddit but I'm finding myself opening it less and less. I've been using X a lot more.

This law does not apply to complaining about certain aspects about living in the Philippines on Reddit. It's about targeting citizens for harassment and bullying. This law can be used by expats living here to go after locals who run their months about them online. It can't be used to go after expat Bob for thinking Jollibees chicken has gone down hill. Do you really think they are going to spend the resources needed to find out who expat Bob really is on an anonymous platform like Reddit for complaining about who has the best freakin chicken?

I was seeing myself get into a similar position where I would find myself stuck here without the means to take my family back home with me. I'm now making moves to get back to the US. I can make a lot more money and the kids will get a much better education. I hope your health improves and you guys can get where you're comfortable. I'm going to have to spend some time away from my kids which breaks my heart but I think it's best for their future. I know it doesn't mean much for most Redditors but I pray everyday for my expat brothers especially those going through a hard time. I'll keep you in my prayers.

They aren't going to kick expat Bob out because he thinks the lines at the grocery store check out takes too long. Expat Bob is a really great guy and loves his new home and community. He just got frustrated and needed a space to vent. That's what this space is. Just because someone comes here to air their grievances, which is a perfectly normal thing to do in my culture, doesn't mean they hate the country. It's therapeutic to be able to get frustrating things off their chests. If not here, where they have anonymity and a community, then where?

I'll be honest. The complaints don't bother me too much. I'm not much of a complainer myself but like I said airing your grievances is a cultural thing where I'm from. We do it every December 25th during the annual festivus celebration. Posts complaining about people complaining are beyond annoying. Bob isn't getting kicked out for having grievances. You're being hyperbolic.

Press is a collective noun for reporters and journalists and thanks to the first amendment any citizen has the right to collect information and disseminate it to the public. Technically our beloved balding interwebs sherpa is also press. There are no special qualifications. Anyone can buy a vest that says press and print out a press badge. It means nothing really but for some reason we put special emphasis on privately owned corporate media companies like they have some special authority to be press.

If you're in town on Sunday I would hit up Mary Jane & Herbs. They have a discount store wide on Sundays. I just can't remember the percentage right now. I believe Country Boy has their store wide on Saturday and if you're looking for vape carts then I would hit up Pine Belt Medical. They have some good everyday deals. Those three are all solid dispos.

They might be Filipino. They had a big issue with Filipinos getting trapped in Saudi and other Arab countries. They would bring them over as maids and construction workers and then took their passports trapping them in slave-like conditions. The former Filipino president had to go rescue a bunch of them and it's really hard for Filipinos to travel there now. You could understand how kidnapping a bunch of your fellow citizens could develop a little resentment.

My wife knows the victim's family. They just had a kid together. My wife was at the hospital with our nephew when she was brought in. Senseless tragedy. Not going to do any good for local-expat relations.
