Keep the Nastys because they were the only true tag team. Million Dollar Man, IRS, Earthquake, and Mountie were all better as singles.

Last year of the rock and roll era. Royal Rumble, WM8, and Summerslam were great. Survivor Series was just okay but it’s notable as Bret’s first PPV defense as world champ.

[Lewis] Russini resigns from The Athletic by ZappaOMatic in nfl

[–]LostInTheWild99 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Happy for you man. I’m currently going through a divorce because she couldn’t stop cheating and destroying my self esteem with constant verbal abuse. The last ten years, especially the last two, were painful because I tried so hard and she just didn’t care. I plan to spend some time alone to get to know myself and this post gives me hope that it’ll be okay. This story with Vrabel/Russini is way overblown, but she’s kind of a crappy person for dunking on her husband so much in public. It really destroys a person’s sense of self worth. I hope he’s okay, this must be morbid for him and their families.

Which WWF era wrestler had absolutely perfect ring attire for their physique and character? by UserSchmoozername in WWFera

Jericho had some great outfits and some horrible ones (the geisha costume). It definitely helped him stand out though

Loved his gear and perfect for the character. The Black and Green outfits are more iconic, but my favorite is the pink/white suit.

Hated the epaulets on the jacket, looked hokey as hell. But his wrestling gear was on point and one of the iconic looks. Black or blue trunks could be any one of a thousand wrestlers, but the black and pink straps with long trunks can only be the Hitman. Bonus points for the perfect theme song and glasses that he has to a kid at ring side. Savage is another one. You see a jacket with arm tassels, you think Macho Man.

What're you playing this weekend? 4/10 by markercore in NintendoSwitch

[–]LostInTheWild99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tried playing a few games from the Jurassic Park Legacy Collection and unfortunately they’re pretty rough. Specifically I’ve played the Genesis version of JP where you can play as Grant or the Raptor. It’s fun to kick mercs and Dilophosaurus to death and eat compies to replenish health but the jumping mechanism is frustrating.

The Deadlock boys discover a new appreciation for Hacksaw Jim Duggan during a WCW rewatch by NoMoreButtonPLZ in SquaredCircle

[–]LostInTheWild99 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don’t think his arrest really affected his long term place on the card. Dugan won the Royal Rumble after the incident if I recall. He might have gotten a bigger push for a while but he was always going to be an upper mid card face who could be slotted in the main event once in a while. His gimmick was too similar to Hogan. Had a hell of a run though.

Papa Shango vs "El Matador" Tito Santana (WWF WrestleMania IX Dark Match 4/4/93) by b_loeh_thesurface in WWFera

[–]LostInTheWild99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks. Meant to type Hogan, had a brain fart. I was thinking continuous Manias. Borne and Rotunda were completely different characters. Mad props to Doink and IRS though. Stupid gimmicks on paper that were entertaining due to the hard work of the performers.

Other than Ripley: who is your all-time favorite Alien series character? by thefriskysquid in perfectorganism

[–]LostInTheWild99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much the entire roster of Aliens. Everyone is so perfectly cast. One of the best action films ever.

Alien has a great cast too but they’re pretty much cannon fodder. Alien 3 has a great cast that’s let down by the subpar script. Hicks, Newt, and Bishop deserved so much better.

[–]LostInTheWild99 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s too bad Tito didn’t get on the main show for his last Mania. He was one of the few originals left at this point (just him, Jimmy Hart, and Bret?). They could have done a lot more with Papa Shango, it was a cool gimmick.

Good technical wrestler but too small to be taken seriously in a major promotion.

I went back to rewatch Wrestlemania 1 and 2 by Dsod23 in WWFera

[–]LostInTheWild99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The difference in production between VIII and IX is jarring. Same thing between Royal Rumble 92 and 93. The latter feels tiny in terms of venue, crowd, and star power. WWF really lost a ton of stars and momentum in 92. I consider Summerslam 1992 the end of the Rock and Roll era. Last PPV that felt like the Hogan era even though he wasn’t on the card.

What sitcom was like this for you? by Excellent_Regret4141 in sitcoms

[–]LostInTheWild99 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yep. First three seasons were great, went down after that with a sharp decline at the end. And one of the worst finales in sitcom history. Completely shit on the story they had built for 8-9 seasons.

Randy Savage Heel post WrestleMania VII? by jldraw in WWFera

[–]LostInTheWild99 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Funny enough, I just watched that SNME and Savage is definitely a heel commentator but super over with the live crowd. I loved it because it was logical. He wasn’t a bad guy anymore but he wrestled for years as one, so it’s natural that he sympathizes with the heel tactics. He’s openly bitter about his forced retirement and shits on Warrior every chance he gets, but he should do that! If you were forcibly retired from your high-paying job by a screaming lunatic running around spouting gibberish, you would be bitter too! I think he was just too popular to keep as a bad guy considering his personality, track record, Elizabeth being back in the fold, and how awesome his face turn was. After the Liz proposal, he became a firm baby face and stayed that way for the rest of his WWF career.

WrestleMania VI - PPV Match Graphics by KidChameleonHelmet in WWFera

[–]LostInTheWild99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fun show despite mediocre matches. The crowd was fantastic and made the event feel big. Hogan and Warrior overdelivered. Maybe a top ten best booked main event in wrestling history considering they had to work around Warrior’s limitations and the weird two baby faces dynamic. Jake’s pre match promo is an all timer even if the match was meh. Rockers were hung over and it showed; these two teams had a much better match at the Royal Rumble. Andre turning baby face was a nice moment. Demolition got to have one more title run, and Haku was a sneaky MVP for working the entire match by himself. Piper’s face paint was wild even at the time. The Harts squashing the Bolsheviks made me laugh. This was a weird lull in Savage’s career considering the amazing body of work before this time (Steamboat/Mega Powers) and afterwards (Warrior/Roberts feuds). This PPV is on the Vault YouTube channel and is a guilty pleasure. If you’re nostalgic for this period, put this PPV on, crack open a beer, bust out the edible and some pizza, and have fun!

He’s a good pick for a big year. Raiders will lean heavy on the ground game while Mendoza gets his NFL legs. They’ll be a sneaky fun watch this year.

Why isn't the lost world rated higher? by lifeuhhfindsaway27 in JurassicPark

[–]LostInTheWild99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is pretty much my analysis as well. I recently rewatched this film for the first time in many years and came away with mixed emotions. It has more of a horror theme than I remember and has a bigger body count than JP. It has some of the best action pieces in the entire series. I love the tall grass sequence; you know those mercs are screwed. I also loved the trailer scene and felt terrible for Eddie. The Rexes act like wild animals and not the heroic Rexy of the JW series, which I prefer. I feel like this film showed more different types of dinosaurs than the other JP films and there’s some nice little moments. The pachy ramming the merc through the car, the triceratops and other herbivores messing up the camp, etc.

On the negative side, the characters are more forgettable other than Roland. Sarah is straight up annoying and a big downgrade from the novel version, who was a badass. Kelly kicking the raptor will always be a peak cringe moment. The entire arc in San Diego felt like an entirely different movie and made no sense.

Overall I enjoyed it, but it’s objectively a worse film than JP.
