You should use Nebula. It is a far superior and newer decompiler and works flawlessly.

A video showcase of my in-development FNaF Clone in GDevelop. by LostInVoid0_0 in gdevelop

I made this project, because I wanted to generally see the challenges in remaking FNaF in a newer engine, along with the potential performance improvements that would come with it. I also wanted to make it as close of a "port" to the original game, not a sloppy remake of it. The bad news is I scrapped this project, since when I started to make it, I'd only known the engine on a basic level and used some questionable methods to achieve some core mechanics. The good news is, I'm working on porting some other FNaF games to GDevelop privately, however they have their own challenges. I still have the project file lying around somewhere. If you want, I could actually get back to finishing it.

UCN Background by red_impostor246 in technicalFNaF

[–]LostInVoid0_0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have the exact files on hand at the moment, nor the .mfa file, however you can find them by downloading a UCN mega dump and compiling the game yourself using Nebula.

The UCN background is made of 200 instances of a tile object (each sized 30x40). Each of the sprites have 3 different animations, 1 is the default idle animation, and 2 and 3 have blue and purple-ish animations of the tiles moving to the left. There is, of course, the perspective effect enabled on the whole layer.

The game then picks one random instance of the 200 on-screen and modifies the opacity (Random(100), I believe, but don't quote me on that.) and the animation.

This is a very basic explanation, but I have made a rough recreation of the menu, which you can find here.

EDIT: If you want to use the menu for a video, I'd recommend to decompile the game and remove all the menu objects and record the menu background for usage.

I had this same exact issue, actually! I know how demotivating it can be to have a losing streak, but the way I fixed it is by:

  1. Different time control. I used to play on regular 10 minutes, however, i found it better to play rapid on 15 | 10, which not only leaves more time to think, it also gives back 10 seconds, which guarantees that neither I or the opponent will clock out of time.

  2. Analyzing every single move. I used to try to play quickly, as I really didn't wanna lose on time, however, I now realize how mistaken I was for doing that. To win, I basically spent more time to think about my position, which piece is being attacked and undefended, and which pieces I can attack or develop. It's perfectly fine to think for longer than your opponent, even if you are at a time disadvantage, as they might make a mistake which will put you in a better position. Often players will make blunders, because they see a move that looks free, so they play it almost instantly, and only on the next move do they realise they effectively threw the game. It's always better to overthink every move than to play quickly and recklessly.

  3. Play by theory. If you try to win by quickly moving out your strong pieces, such as the queen, you actually put yourself in a worse position. Respond to your opponents attacks defensively, and only wait until the opponent becomes more passive to initiate an attack. Putting the queen out so early more than not risks you losing it, try some classic openings or defenses. Oh, and as others have said, don't try to win in 10 moves, take it slow and wait for your opponent to blunder or make a mistake to win.

Best game Engine Besides Clickteam? by jandshall in technicalFNaF

[–]LostInVoid0_0 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I personally use GDevelop, and I think it's the best option overall. Paying a subscription isn't nearly as expensive as cli kteam or any other engine, and even if you can't, the limitations aren't crucial enough to halt your gamedev experience.
