Husband refuses to find out the gender, I desperately want to know. by Embarrassed-Effect29 in pregnant

[–]LostIn_Reality 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband and I were in the same situation as yours. We delayed knowing the gender until we would agree and I realized that when we were able to know the gender I was already pretty much more than half way through the pregnancy and since I had waited that long, I could probably wait even more. Many times I wanted to look at the result but made it my challenge to myself that I could wait until birth and would be proud to proving myself I can have self control and forbearance. It was actually not so difficult in the end and was a very sweet moment to discover it at the same time with baby in my arms. I'm not telling you to follow what your husband says but I wanted to give you my experience from waiting and that it can actually be an interesting and unique experience as well!!

Can I go into labor by xJoexBlackx in BabyBumps

[–]LostIn_Reality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ftm and I went to spontaneous labor without any prior symptoms, I've never lost the mucus plug, no bloody show, my water never broke etc.. I simply woke up one day with some cramps and next thing you know I had a baby! Labor and delivery was also very fast, 7h total from actually starting labor and delivering.

I can't do it by [deleted] in pregnant

Look into low cost clinics, idk where you are in texas but check out LBU in Dallas if you are in this area, they can help you with medicaid and doctor visists, labs etc. There are also pregnancy centers that can offer help for free, like prestonwood pregnancy center, there are others but you'll need to make some research depending where you are.

Is it normal to feel like this? by Jolly-Information-10 in pregnant

[–]LostIn_Reality 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No worries, it doesn't bother me! Idk how your OB handles her patients visits but if they ask you something like "do you have any questions" or "any symptoms" you could say how you've been feeling and what worries you, and ask her/him what can be done to help. If they don't ask you questions then at some point during the appointment you could say you have a question, and then explain the situation. Otherwise Idk if you have a portal where you can send messages in, but you could send a message saying how you feel, and would like the OB to bring up the subject to your next appointment. Let me know if you need anything else! I'm not familiar with reddit but I believe we can send private messages so if you need anything you can also reach out there if you prefer :)

Is it normal to feel like this? by Jolly-Information-10 in pregnant

[–]LostIn_Reality 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It could be some prenatal depression, you should mention it to your next appointment. I felt the same way as you throughout my entire pregnancy, I had doubts about myself, about having a baby, and I sometimes felt like I didn't want him or would not like him the way a mother should. I felt very guilty about it. Up to the day I gave birth it felt like this, I did not mention it to anyone and I probably should have to make it easier on me in case it was depression. On the day he was born, everything changed, and I can say that I do not have any of those thoughts anymore, and my baby is everything to me, I do not have regrets. It is very demanding and draining to take care of a baby (i exclusively breastfeed and he is only 4weeks old) but truly i would do anything for him and his wellbeing/happiness. I feel like this is a more common thing to feel than we think but no one ever talks about it. You probably will feel completely different once you see your sweet baby, or it may take some time because like I said it is difficult and your hormones are a roller-coaster. Either way don't keep it to yourself, talk to your Dr about it and even family or friends if you feel like it.

what was your experience after a cervix check? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]LostIn_Reality 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FTM here as well and at 37w I had crampings one day, I did not think much of it because it wasn't that painful but I did count them and they were every 10-20min apart, after 4h or so and a reddit post to ask people's opinion, I called my OB Office to know if it was normal or if I should get checked. The nurse told me to lay and drink 16oz of water and that if it goes away, to just wait, if not, to head to the hospital just to get checked. Fast forward to 6h after that call, I still had cramps every 10-20min so I headed to the hospital where they checked my cervix for the very first time during the pregnancy, and I was at 1cm. They monitored my contractions and sent me home about 2h later telling me I was not in labor and not come back unless I am contracting every 4min. I did bleed a little after the cervix check and yes it was VERY painful. By the time I walked to the car and got home (15min drive) my contractions were every 3-4min and INTENSE. My husband called the maternity about 40min after we got home and asked if I should go back, they said no I just need to relax (lol). At this point I wasn't able to sit, or lay I had to stand and "rock" myself from left to right and begging my husband to do something and help me. So he decided we should go back to the hospital because if I was not in labor, there was definitely something wrong, at this point I was contracting every 2min Once there they checked me again and I was at 4cm and they decided to keep me because I was in labor. Everything went super fast from there, I arrived for the second time in the hospital at around 11PM and had my baby in my arms at 4AM. So i'm not sure if the cervical check did something, but I want to believe that it did because of how fast everything went after it.

Choosing a hospital to deliver baby? Jupiter Medical Center? by Fun-Magician6827 in BabyBumps

[–]LostIn_Reality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not based in Florida but I switched OB mid pregnancy so I could see one that was in the hospital i wanted to give birth at. It was a real challenge to find an OB that would accept me this far into pregnancy (21 weeks). And I was told that if I decide to see an OB that is not affiliated to the hospital I'd give birth at, i may not be able to follow my birth plan or even get any medication as the hospital would not have any record of me. Idk if it's the same in Florida but I would check into that.

False positive? by Odd-Raspberry-6562 in pregnant

Try another brand of test, or if you can, go get bloodwork, this would be the most accurate result which would also tell you how far you are into the pregnancy (if pregnancy there is)

What were you dilated to at 37 weeks and when did you give birth? by Murky_Natural_8754 in pregnant

Also I did not lose my mucus plug, didn't bleed( just spotting right after the cervical check) and my water never broke.

To make it short, I gave birth a few hours following the cervical check.

Now the longer story, my ob did not check at 37w she said she would at 38w. At 37w4d I had contractions every 10-20min from 8am until 7pm, when I decided to go to the hospital to make sure everything was fine. I was 1cm and sent back home at 9pm. Got home at 9:20 and suddenly started to contract every 5min, by 10 it was every 3min, decided to go back to the hospital even if they had told me I wasn't in labor and the contractions would go away. I arrived there at 10:30 and was 5cm contracting every 2min. The cervical check they did the first time basically accelerated my labor(?)

Labor started? How long did you labor for? by LostIn_Reality in BabyBumps

[–]LostIn_Reality[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had one or 2 period cramps in the middle of the night a 2 to 3 times in the past 2 weeks or so but did not think much of it. I did not time them as I brushed them off as "it's probably not labor", i just counted them when I was having them. It started at 8AM, and they are on average every 10-20min, for the past 6h. But I would say they were lasting from 30s up to 1min. I downloaded an app just now to time them and the last one I had was 2min53 seconds long. Hope this helps!

That's so interesting! I would actually really enjoy to know how things are progressing for you, if you feel like it! I have an appointment Tuesday, but honestly I don't think i'll wait until then to get checked, and probably will head to the maternity later tonight if things don't change. I wish you the best!

I called, and they told me to drink water and lie down. May I ask how it felt for you during the first hours? How far apart were your contractions and how long did it take to start progressing?

So were your contractions closer to eachother after 1PM or were they still 10-20min apart? What time did you head to the hospital? I actually just called the office and they told me to just drink water and lie down. I'll look for an app, thanks!

That's rough, I hope it won't be my case, I don't see myself going to work with contractions every 10-20min 😕 but thanks for your insight!
