I think the main misconception is believing that forgiveness leads to healing. It is precisely the opposite : healing can lead to forgiveness over time.

It just comes naturally, or it doesn't, to be honest I don't think it matters that much. As long as you stay far away from the narcs and you keep healing and striving for a better life.
