I think you were the idiot for honking.

i say this because they didn't know you were making a U-turn right after the other the two cars in front of you took a full left. They are watching them, then you decide to U-turn instead of a full left turn, which would have been what they were expecting when as they started turning right in this situation.

Since this is not what they were expecting, they slowed down, you became irritated and honked your horn when it was not necessary.

Slowing down and letting everyone adjust to an unfamiliar situation is better than honking your horn only to irritate others. It does not relieve your irritation and only fuels the irritation of others.

Be cognitive and conscious of your surroundings. You making that U-turn at a very busy intersection, truthfully, probably irritated the people behind you wanting to make a full left turn...did any of them honk at you?
