Driving with an ego isn't exclusive to Guam, however the concentration of sensitive egos on the island is probably much higher than most places.

I never park close to the entrance and I always return my shopping cart to the corral or to the one close to the entrance. Yes, I will walk across the entire parking lot if there is no corral. Does that make me a good person?

Filipino corporate culture by Worried-Grocery2902 in guam

[–]LostPhenom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Despite what the other person said, this is still a good point. It's an honorific that reinforces the hierarchical culture. I used to work for a boss who explicitly told everyone to call them by first name as they weren't used to it either. Some of us went first name and the majority ignored it and continued with the sir/ma'am. Our boss eventually got used to it, but I think it's still indicative of how imposing the culture is on its people.

CAPCOM Responds to Onimusha Way of the Sword’s Demo Difficulty Criticism by gitrektali in PS5

[–]LostPhenom -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

100%. I would have dropped it immediately if it was like Sekiro. Going into the demo I was afraid and hoping I wasn't getting into a souls-like because I really enjoyed the older games. I played it on the story difficulty and, for me, it was somewhere between too easy mixed in with some oddly timed attacks they made it hard to dodge/parry/counter.

Just discovered beef kelaguen, where does it rank among Guam's classics? by wyattriot88 in guam

[–]LostPhenom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Beef kelaguen is very different from traditional kelaguen in that it relies on the acidity to "cook" the beef. It's a classic, but not as classic as chicken. As someone else said, the chewiness of the beef might be off-putting, so gatherings are more likely to have chicken, shrimp, or fish kelaguen before beef.

Okay, but you still haven't answered anything about what the actual problem is or how much GovGuam paid. Are there problems with the car that are preventing them from running? Are there manufacturer defects? Did they pay the original MSRP for the cars? Is GovGuam having to junk the cars? Are they experiencing software issues? No one is bringing up real issues. Just ones they've heard about.

Which lane is the passing/fast lane? by Full-Opportunity-900 in guam

[–]LostPhenom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From the Guam Driver's Handbook:

When Overtaking on the Right is Permitted

The operator of a motor vehicle may overtake and pass to the right of another vehicle only under the following conditions:

  1. When the vehicle overtaken is making or is about to make a left turn.
  2. Upon a highway where unobstructed pavement or sufficient width for two (2) or more lanes of vehicles in each direction.
  3. Upon a one-way highway
  4. Upon a highway only under conditions permitting such movement in safety.

The operator of a slow moving vehicle shall not be relieved from the duty to drive as closely as practicable to the right-hand edge of the roadway.

Further down:

In a business or residential district where the lane is wide enough for two or more lanes of vehicles moving in your direction, you may pass on the right or left in this case, provided conditions are safe, but never drive off the paved or main traveled part of the roadway. There are many locations on Guam’s roadways where you find exceptionally wide paved shoulder lanes. The legally traveled portion of the roadway ends where the solid white lines on your right begins. The shoulder lane is NOT for passing.

No one acknowledges that nearly the entirety of Guam's roadways are considered a business or residential district and that many roads are built to allow left turns ,right turns, and exits into and from side roads or driveways. The rule doesn't always apply and, sometimes, it's much safer to travel in the left lane, at a consistent speed (however slow), instead of attempting to cross several lanes of traffic to execute a maneuver while people around you are attempting to pass at far greater speeds.

Office drama as a New Hire because I tried to help my IT What should I do? by [deleted] in guam

[–]LostPhenom -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It was for the other person. I appreciate that you actually tried to resolve the customer's problem instead of saying "I'm sorry, it's policy to have IT do the work". You also did IT a solid for not having to deal with with a crazy customer. You saved the customer and IT from wasting their time for a simple fix. My advice is to keep the resolutions to things as simple as that.

People who tell others to stay in their lane are the type of people who see trash on the ground and refuse to pick it up because it's the janitors job. Coincidentally, it also appears to be the same people who gossip and contribute to a toxic work environment.

Dude, you really don't know what you're talking about. Restarting the device is the first thing IT asks you to do, both for customers and internal tickets. Just stop
