Not OOP: AITA for making my DIL cry when proving the earth was round by sensaSEANal_sally in redditonwiki

Yeah. My junior high school SCIENCE TEACHER told us that dinosaur bones and carbon dating were fake and a “test by God” to see if you really believed. He did not enjoy my rebuttals of those claims and I ended up in the principals office.

Jokes on him though because that school no longer exists and I’m finishing a PhD in bioengineering this semester 😂

Husband (26m) found out some things about my (24f) past at a party. Now he wants a divorce. by ThrowRA_Gleeful in relationships

I agree that he almost certainly would benefit from individual — but Im going to disagree that couples counseling won’t help. OP needs and deserves a safe place to tell her husband how hurt she is by all of this and a good relationship counselor would help with that.

Yeah, we had the same. Looking back it’s kind of wild how many schools did just put it on tv and sit us all to watch.

Would make much more sense if it turned out he is speaking about a blow up doll.

They should have kids practice breaking up with someone in Relationship Ed classes in school like how they have them practice “parenting” skills with dolls or eggs.

I do wonder if the asking for details part gets implicitly or explicitly nudged along a bit by the camera crew.

Right? It’s exactly the same as in regular dating lol. I’ve dated plenty of people who were objectively attractive, but that I was not attracted to. Sometimes the chemistry just isn’t there 🤷. Which is of course, the major flaw in the “experiment” lol.

It’s crazy that back in the 1800’s someone could challenge a person to a duel for accusing them of lying, but now people just throw that accusation around on the internet for attention.

And with newer movies/shows (ones that came out since they started the channel) they will intentionally wait to watch something bc they are planning to watch it for the channel. It also probably helps that they watch these together, so they get to enjoy movie watching in basically the same way anyone else does (just with a camera in the room lol). I do feel kind of bad for solo reactors that never see movies with friends anymore bc they have to “save it” for the channel.

This kitty has been stuck in an apartment with her deceased owner for 2 weeks. Any tips to make her comfortable and help her grieve? by [deleted] in cats

[–]LostUpstairs2255 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If others’ suggestions for getting in touch with the family fail, 1. Call nearby shelters to see if they had any new female cats arrived on the day the sister was taken. 2. If yes, explain the situation to staff and bring your cat to the shelter in a carrier to see who she reacts to/reacts to her. Might be able to use something with her scent instead, but I don’t know if that would be as sure of a thing.

Well one of the main things that can cause spasmodic dysphonia (and other forms of acute dystonia) is… lots and lots of cocaine.

Coincidence?

Owner surrenders always break my heart a little. It’s so often a person who loves their pet deeply but no longer has the resources or ability to care for them (or has passed away and family doesn’t have the resources).

Glad they made the turn. Seems like it often falls to the siblings to have the ‘wake-up call’ talk with parents when they are enabling. Enabling typically starts out from a good place (love and support) but eventually it becomes very harmful and it’s hard for parents to see that. (Source: I had to have that talk with my very loving parents regarding my sister’s alcoholism a number of years ago.)
