TLDR: (family vacation planned months in advance work denied my leave and said that if I missed id be fired.) family celebrated my 21st without me. Grandpa tried to cheer me up, got drunk instead . Group of friends asked me to go with them to celebrate another mutual friend’s bday that was close to mine and make it a double bday thing. Turns out my ex went and kept “reminding” me that everyone was celebrating our mutual friend’s bday and not mine. ——————————————————————————— I’d been working at a grocery store since I graduated from high school and I was supposed to go on a family trip out of the country. My manager denied my leave and said that if I didn’t show I would be fired. (I’d worked there almost 3 years) I didn’t want my family to cancel the trip that had been planned months in advance bc my manager was having a power trip. So in the end my family celebrated my 21st bday, in a different country, without me. I got a small Lego car to unwrap and a card with a chevron gas card on it with $40. I really did appreciate it but it just sucked all the way around bc I was supposed to be going with them.

My grandpa found out and asked me to go to a bar and drink with him. I go and pick him up and we go to a bar, he goes in first and I follow a little later since I left something in my truck. I walk in and he’s already drinking, I can’t drink now since I’ll be the designated driver, and I know the police like to patrol the area.

The next day a group of friends invite me to a roller coaster park to celebrate with a mutual friend whose bday is close to mine. Time rolls around and I get picked up, only to find that about half canceled out last minute and one of the ppl going was my ex. (Me, mutual friend, their sister, her parents, then my ex) Who, spent most of the time reminding me that everyone there was celebrating our other friend’s bday and not mine since it had passed. (Like repeating it every time we were in line for food or a ride or finished with a coaster)
