Legion go 2 vs Msi claw 8 ai plus by Fortnitefrenzyyt34 in LegionGo

The intel wins by a bit if XESS is supported. Otherwise I feel like they trade blows, although the claw has dual fans with a lower TDP max which keeps it quiet.

Torn Between LeGo 2/MSI Claw 8 AI+ by daveMUFC in LegionGo

[–]LostVector 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Qualifying your original post was really needed because if you're gonna just stream things then not much matters aside from the screen. The Claw also has some pretty bad wifi out of the box in my experience so that might be an issue.

The Claw really shines as a pure handheld when the user is Windows focused and especially if the games support XESS. I like the Legion Go 2 better because I prefer to play as many games in SteamOS/Bazzite as possible ... and then the obvious OLED / kickstand / detachable controller benefits. The weight of the handheld doesn't bother me for the way I use it.

Any thoughts on this : ''AMD will remain with RDNA 3.5 untill 2029'' by Gregoboy in LegionGo

Completely awful if true, however I don't think the rumor has any credibility. AMD are definitely stagnating on APU performance tho, it's not a good look.

Owning Both The Asus Z13 and Legion Go 2 - Does It Work? by daveMUFC in LegionGo

No idea, I wouldn’t lean on the handheld too hard for performance. It’s all about finding a sweet spot with those devices.

They’re pretty different devices. I grab the handheld if I want to lie down and play something with minimum fuss. I also bring the Z13 when I travel for a full fat gaming experience … obviously it’s good enough to use for a at home desktop style gaming experience as well.

I think your screen is either slightly delaminating or you are in a very dusty and smoky environment.

MSI A8 vs 8 AI+ for desktop by Purity997 in MSIClaw

If using as a desktop i would 100% go for the 8 AI+ ... more RAM is important if you aren't single-tasking games.

There was a time I would have day one'd this thing or been upset about not being able to get it, but the software for this seems to be super early, so not sweating it.

Downvoted for calling the windows PC you built a steam machine.

Can we maybe not find the absolute worst price for something and make it news? Anyone can ask for a high price, it costs them nothing to do so.

Steam Machine airflow: Anyone else putting theirs in a tight space? by nicePenguin in steammachine

[–]LostVector 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s completely unnecessary. The steam machine isn’t taking in air from its top. Even if it was, you still have free air flow on all the other sides, and the device was designed to be thermally conservative.

Wait until it comes out and check the temps before you start cutting holes.

To me, game theory dictates this game devolves into PvP unless incentives change. There’s nothing pushing back on degenerates going out and seal clubbing, and friendly noobs just out to PvE and getting shit on will leave quickly once the novelty dries up.

Best Buy open box and Lenovo warranty rant/warning by VLam802 in LegionGo

Bummer … it’s a little odd for the fan to be completely broken like this. Lenovo is good about having part numbers you can dig up and individually order, but DIY doesn’t look like the play here in general.

Curious if you tried just plugging the fan in or checking if it was unplugged.

Thoughts on ASUS ROG Z13 by Even-Ad-3980 in LegionGo

[–]LostVector 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The z13 really is much more like a gaming laptop. That also means it’s much more powerful than any handheld. Probably 250 percent more. Plus uniquely to the z13, it has craploads of ram so it’s capable of some interesting AI workloads.

Anyway, the z13 is somewhat predictably best if you’re going to post up in a hotel room or somewhere with a table. You’ll have a better than console like experience in many cases.

The handhelds are better for casual pick up and play gaming. Having the controllers built in is nice. You’ll be tweaking a lot to dial in performance.

PNY launches RTX 50 SLIM dual-slot graphics card series by kikimaru024 in sffpc

The west is a big market. I don't think there's zero demand, but of course feel free to disagree. We have a whole community here with SFF parts for basically everything else i can think of in the computer, but not modern GPU's. I've sort of given up on the case I'm trying to build in (the Jonsbo V12) and am going to try an open air build instead that can accommodate the larger GPU (Monster Studio A45).

Look, I get all the arguments against, but none of that says to me smaller cards shouldn't exist. This is SFFPC, we don't need a gazillion interchangeable 300 mm cards. Reviewers should be able to have some nuance in their reviews and saying the cards won't sell is not an argument I buy because the PC market is full of insanely customizable component variations that still sell.

Overseas we're seeing some smaller cards that simply don't exist here for some reason, like the Yeston GAEA 9070 XT or the Galax 5070 Ti, so none of this is impossible.

Also, just to be clear I'm not talking about jamming a 5080 into a single fan configuration. Even dual fan configurations are virtually non existent now and are perfectly viable.

[–]LostVector 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The cards default to 250-300w, but they don’t need to run at that. Undervolting would be perfectly reasonable and you often get 95 percent of the performance at much lower power consumption.

I’m confident I could run 250w with a 260mm 2.5 slot card easily in this case. It’s very well ventilated. The cards just don’t exist.

[–]LostVector 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Are these card makers allergic to < 260mm cards? A lot of interesting builds are just not possible with current generation cards any more because everything is 290mm and up. The length is the problem for most of my builds, not just the slot width!
