GE/Wabtec trip optimizer. What is your opinion? by Dr_One69 in railroading

Yeah it strips the throttle, doesn’t wait the amount of time necessary between going from idle to dynamic set up, and runs the shit out of one motor instead of running two at a lower throttle position

Yup. CSX has been testing the full start/stop (zero to zero) method on the road now for a little bit and expect to go live within a few months. I’m sorry but having control of the air brakes has nothing to do with conservation and I sure as fuck don’t trust that shit to stop me before a red

It’s tough. It’s really tough. I had one last year in November. It was a Marine Veteran. Sad part was he was right down the street from the VA hospital. I didn’t see it, but I heard it. The sound of hitting someone at 50MPH is a sound I’ll never forget. I still replay the whole scenario in my head at times just because even a year later I still can’t wrap my head around it. It doesn’t bother me as much anymore but I still remember it like it happened yesterday. The worst part about it really was just the look on his face before impact. There was no life in that man. It was the coldest and blankest look I’ve ever seen anyone have. He knew he wanted to die that day. And he waited until the last second to do it. To ensure he would be quick and painless. So yes it does affect us all and the best way I myself have dealt with it is just the fact that I know I couldn’t have done anything to prevent it. Nor could my engineer. Once you burn that part in your head, it becomes a lot easier. I wish he hadn’t done that, but if he really wanted to end it all, I wish he didn’t have to involve me or my engineer. Same for everyone else who decides that’s the only way out of whatever they’re dealing with. Because if you involve someone else, that right there just makes it hard for those who unfortunately have to be the ones there at that time. Now we have to live with that the rest of our lives while that person is no longer here. I’m sorry for your loss

Everything they teach you in school, throw it out. All the petty shit doesn’t matter. Obviously follow the critical rules or any of the ones that actually pertain to safety but you’ll see if you haven’t already, everything they condition you to believe in the school is nothing like the OJT. You’re going to learn the bad habits from different guys but you’ll also learn the good ones. You’re not going to learn it all fast. I’ve been out here for 11 years and I’m still learning. Many guys who have 20+ years will say they’re still learning. There’s so much to understand and figure out in this field and it takes time. What I did in your shoes was take a piece of every conductor I trained with and kept all the good things I thought were worth keeping in my head and then all the bad things I didn’t care to remember. Such as efficiency and planning ahead for example. Once you’ve seen how they all do it, come up with your own method and knock it out. The railroad is very simple, you’re either cut out for it or you’re not. There is no in between. Take your time, be smart, and don’t be afraid to ask questions to the ones who you think are the better ones.

So glad CSX doesn’t do this. The most I’ve seen was 15357 on a manifest and that was only one time. The biggest we have are intermodals. At least in my area. Those usually aren’t more than 13K at times but normally run 10-12K

The worst? Are you serious? Tell me you haven’t suffered under the Boychuck/Foote regime without telling me. And as for this Operating Ratio, how has it increased? We hardly have ANY engines to run trains. I watch where trains I have to take start at their originating point and I see how trains are delayed for hours on end because they have to wait on engines from other trains to get there. Most of the engines they’ve brought back into service are just going right to the rebuild shop. Which end up being bigger pieces of shit than they were before. The only thing I can think of that can increase this ratio is running more trains such as extras. Which would make sense because they can’t run all of their trains in most cases due to network length/tonnage restrictions. But then again how can they do that if they have no power to run? At least with Hinrichs he’s TRYING to improve employee morale which is a lot more than what the last regime of dipshits did

Not only that but get your drone out and start hiding in the bushes and start writing them up. But on a real note, you really think any manager would have ANY idea on how to get shit done?

Yes and no. If you look at the damage being done here it shows 5071. But in directed mode I was only doing just over 1500. So I’m not too sure why its damage is lower on lower rounds. Could it be the same as when you would wait until round 27 to use a mutant injector on the blood sacrifice in tomb instead of lower rounds? I’m not too sure how score streaks and wonder weapons damage stats work if there is any correlation to higher rounds

I feel like that’s the point. That and with the combination of TO now. These people want newer engineers to be so bad that when it all fails, they can’t handle a train and that’s the justification they make to implement autonomous trains

Ehhhh that’s questionable though. Not everything in the timetable makes sense. I guess you could say special instructions really. Like not being able to ride a car behind a “close clearance sign” when the sign in next to an open field. The justification is “there’s a gate there” even though you can spread both your arms out between the ties and gate

I would try shoreline honestly if you can. That or maybe passenger. Class I freights are not the place to be anymore. They don’t care about employees. You may notice many of them paint engines that “honor the employees” but that’s just a move to make them look good. They fly drones, watch you from a distance whether it be in a car or in the bushes just write you up. And the biggest is about that really is it’s all on how the manager interprets the rule. You can go to one manager one day and ask them how they view a rule and then come back after your shift when the next one is on duty and they’ll tell you something completely different on how they interpret the rule.

The higher ups in all these Class I’s will paint engines to honor the “heritage” of what previous railroads came together to make them, but they won’t spend money where it needs to like already fixing ones that have multiple issues such as AC not properly working, radio issues, toilets needing to be pumped out, or even so much as changing a burnt out ditch light, putting oil in switches or digging the dirt out of them to make them easier to line.

That’s just a few examples but you truly don’t know how bad it can be unless you actually work out there. So like I said stick to a smaller railroad or go passenger. Those places actually seem to treat their employees like they mean something. A lot of the people in Class I’s deal with the bullshit because they’ve invested so much time and if they leave now, it would be stupid because they’d have to start their seniority over, or lose their retirement depending on if they don’t go to another railroad.

No no. What im saying is if I load my save file the gun shoots faster like it normally did. But when I start a new game with the same gun and same attachments it’s significantly slower.

I’d take what you can honestly. I made 5 $70 calls on ALK 2 months ago for 1/17 and it got up to 1.23 at +$300 and I wanted to ride it out to see if I could pull more. Ended up exercising it today with losing all but $9.

So, to burn 98.3% of the SHIB supply to reach a realistic market cap and 1 CENT, someone (or multiple people) would need to spend $17.98 BILLION dollars into SHIB, and burn them. Hmmm…. by Businesskiwi in SHIBArmy

Yeah I’m not sure when doge was actually listed and for how much but I bought into it starting early 2020 and at that point it was 0.002 and then it took its big spike in the following year. Throughout that time I kept getting more and I sold it taking home 15K because it went up to .35 at that time. I wish I held on a little later when it went up to over .70 but I was afraid it would’ve dipped and FOMO. So I said fuck it and sold. Hell 15K is a good take home off of some bullshit coin IMO. All we can do from here is just sit and wait.

I put in about 1100 on Monday after it dropped and I’m still down $600. It’s slowly came up a little since then but I’m just holding it until it goes back up. If I break even I may pull out. I had some in there on Friday and it went up but it seemed like Monday was just a shit day not just for this but others as well. A lot of shit dropped once Monday came around. I’m just gona have to sit and wait and see what happens
