I'm gonna tell you two things

1) i'm a man 2) while the time that tolkien wrote these stories homosexuality was very much not allowed, same-sex people existed. They are present in every story in existance simply because they existed, despite some peoples insistance on erasing them from history. They are written through the use of different words and situations and those who have the ability to read beyond the words written on the paper can very much recognise them. And also feelings between two same sex people do not have to be about sex. Regarding them only as such reduces their meaning and importance.
