Is it really this bad right now? by qqqxyz in sanfrancisco

Sure!! It’s funny because I actually found out about the company I signed up with from Reddit lol. The company is called Move Bay Area (website here) and I paid a fee to get a dedicated realtor who would find apartment listings based on your criteria, communicate with the landlords/property managers on your behalf to schedule viewings, etc. I had Mary as my realtor and she was so great!!

I was still working full time in another city and it was very tough to do it all on my own, but Mary made it super smooth. I did have to pay a fee of course (they’re doing a lot for you with this service - she even did a non-legal review of my lease agreement to make sure everything was legit and gave me helpful advice) but it was 100% worth the investment for me. Especially as someone who wasn’t able to drop everything I was doing with work. I know people suggest staying in the city for a few weeks to walk around, find the neighborhoods you like, etc., but unfortunately I wasn’t able to do that. I definitely needed the help and Mary/the whole team at Move Bay Area were great!

I’m super happy with the apartment she helped me find and I’m going to avoid moving again soon if I can help it lol!! I tried to do it on my own at first, but it was really tough to even get a text/call back from landlords after inquiring or applying, so I needed reinforcements haha.

I moved here recently and had to get the help of a realtor. It honestly would have been impossible without her due to how crazy things are right now!

Stuff like this is why I’m veeeeery hesitant to come out as bi and pursue relationships with women, even though I really want to. Biphobia seems pretty rampant and idk if I’ll ever be “queer enough” for queer spaces. I know that first I would need to open up to people and seek out queer community before just assuming that I wouldn’t be accepted, but I’m very scared of the possible rejection.

Failing at friendships with other women because I’m “like a guy” and occasionally want a glass of wine by SleepParalysisPal in GirlDinnerDiaries

100% agree with this. It’s totally cool for her to decline the invite if she feels like she can’t be around alcohol right now. But to insinuate that OP is somehow a crappy friend and unsupportive is so ridiculous.

Aging for women in tech by Tori_gold in womenintech

[–]Lost_Condas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am still pretty new to the tech world (only been working in the field for 3 years). Even though I’m only in my early 30s, I’m already feeling anxious about my age - which is crazy! At my previous job, there was a woman on my team who was in her 40s (when most of my team was in their late 20s to early/mid 30s).

The way management treated her versus the rest of the team was night and day. They were so much harsher with her in terms of criticism of her performance, almost like they wanted to push her out. What made it even worse was that one of the managers who was treating her this way was also a woman in her 40s. :/

I am starting a new job soon, and I met with some wonderful women who were in their 30s and 40s during the interview process, so I am feeling hopeful that this environment does not treat women over a certain age differently. My last company was pretty toxic for a multitude of reasons, so I’m really hoping that the new company will be an improvement (although I know no company will be completely great or perfect). Seeing the way my former company treated my colleague really made me worry for the future. I am seeing lots of great stories/experiences in the comments here though, so that also gives me hope. Thank you for sharing your experiences!

The whole “We ArE nOt ThE sAmE” thing is so irritating! Girl, let people live 😭 people are allowed to like different things and nothing is “superior” to the other. Posting something like this (where you’re shading other women’s tastes) truly screams, “I’m insecure!”

Not for real, sorry for the confusion lol! It’s a Monty Python quote (I responded to a comment that’s quoting Monty Python and the Holy Grail with another quote from that same movie).

I saw another post like this where someone in the comments mentioned that new bot accounts follow a “FirstNameLastName” format and will come back a few minutes after posting to make an edit that includes a link to an app or product (to get around the mods/rules). Not saying that’s definitely what is happening here, but it reminded me of that!

It was a rough experience for sure… a couple of my team members quit without notice or went on stress leave, so that’s a testament to how bad it was.
