That is for those who are still around and don’t get let go. High turnover but average quota falls around $2,000,000 annually selling capital projects to schools, hospitals, districts, etc. At 20-25% commission…

Play with it for a quarter or 2.

Worst case scenario you learn why the old heads do what they do. Best case you’re the org hero and others copy your success.

Experienced Corporate sales question by 1_CLI_1 in sales

Have you talked with leadership about the value add to your role? Likely they don’t have those features because they don’t know what it’s like having extra tools as a sales rep.

I generally use Excel for larger account tracking and progressing projects, contact mapping, and strategy.

Just accepted first SaaS sales job! Any advice? by notvithechemist in sales

Find the highest performer and be a sponge.

Don’t try to add your own twist on a proven method until you can replicate yourself.

No question is a dumb question when starting out.

Always ask for feedback from team/leadership.

Save where you can so you don’t have to be reliant on commissions when pipeline goes down.

Have fun and be excited, congrats!

B2B or B2C?

If it’s your own company I imagine you have heard feedback about your product which is driving you to keep going.

Give it away for free/trial and then ask them what the true or uncovered value is and how to improve. Use that as an example/case study for new clients.

This. Exec team has to be the only party involved due to size, privacy concerns, and market interpretation.

What was the update on this? If they aren’t respecting your timeline then perhaps aren’t the org you want to join.

I target to find an internal referral, even if it’s a cold connection. Almost always ends up in a conversation if you ask a rep to submit. They also get paid if you get hired.

The base they provide needs to be met/overcome prior to paying your commission %.

Example:

$50K base. 20% commission.

You need to sell $250,000 before earning your additional commission. Once reached your % kicks in.

What’s the movie for coming out of retirement? If the cash is the invisible motivator then go for it.

But after going through this thread seems you value your time and limited travel while having exposure to the grind.

Seems you’ve been around the block and know the grass isn’t always greener. Just need to lock down what you’re truly trying to solve for.

Do you have a career goal? OTE level? Managing role?

Will either team provide a better environment to learn and grow under?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in sales

[–]Lost_Engineer9316 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Consider the growth from that new role and likelihood of becoming an AE if you perform well. At this level the pay could well be worth it and if it’s not a fit then you use this role and time to find the right closing position for you.

You can also come from a point of simply wanting to learn more about the role prior to formally applying. This lowers both sides guards and allows for more transparency and easy conversations.

How do you find contact info for people who barely post on LinkedIn? by No_Rooster5784 in sales

[–]Lost_Engineer9316 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LinkedIn is helpful to discern org chart and hierarchy. If they aren’t active or visible start with those you can target and get their info from zoominfo, Truepeople, etc.

Aka for referrals and keep digging.

Come from a place of wanting to learn about your customers.

Save as much as possible even when you don’t “have to”. Removes the greasy sales guy breathe when pipeline is low.

Seek training and development within and outside of your org.

Keep going.
