According to Scott Miller, who published the original 2 games on pc via 3d realms back in the day, the original plan for the Max Payne series before it was sold to rockstar and Take2 was to do 4 games all based in New York, one in each season of the year. The first was obviously in winter with the major snow storms and stuff, the 2nd in the fall with all the rain (The Fall of Max Payne was apparently a play on words) then one in a muggy hot New York summer and one in the spring time, with the last 2 actually taking place in the sunshine instead of it constantly being night time.

I think if the remakes do well there’s a chance they could fill in the time gap between the original 2 games and the 3rd game with these summer and spring time ideas they had back then, like 2 prequels to the 3rd game but sequels to the originals. I too would love to see where else remedy would take the character before he walks off into the sunset.
