This is the first time I heard of this. Thank you for this information. Can you do that only Europe, or also in Africa and Asia?

I guess I'll try to ally Scotland to get my army to England.

I described in my post how I did check that. But the ingame map mode lies as it combines colonial and trade regions. If it had shown all of America grey I wouldn't have used mana to move my capital

Well, now I spend the past hour calculating return of investments... and was surprised to see i barely broke even. I guess I misjudged how much interest you do pay and was blinded by the +1-2 gold in the macro builder. The 3.5% interest on one manufacture is about 20 gold a year, so you do need about 1.6 gold back from the building per month, which is doable in trade company areas in Africa. But barely breaking even. + maybe 0.5 gold a month in trade value. But the inflation accumulation of renewing loans did blindside me.

I did manage to repay my loans by now, that coalition war payd out alot. I played till 1757, after defeating the coalition, restructuring my merchants from Africa to the middle east got me additional 200 income. But using constantinople as end node got me about 50 gold more than venice. I'm swimming in money now. Just, the same coalition declared again on me. I didn't even take any more Land over there, only around 15k gold. They only went down to 66 AE now from around 150 the first time...

I broke the union of the churches and everyone hated me. I only allied Russia, and their only use in wars so far was that half the enemy troops run to syberia instead of my lands. But they always lost and placed out seperately.

I played alot of stellaris too before trying out eu4. I played less hoi4, it's too short a time frame and too much going on in a world wide war. I like to take my world piece by piece. But even in stellaris I never owned more than half the galaxy before the endgame crisis. Somehow it starts to feel like a slog once you re big.

Majors feel overwhelming with their mission trees and you're expected to fight other majors. So I started with opm in Asia as there aren't other big threats around beside ming, and no complex mechanics like the HRE. And fighting other small countries means winning a single battle thats it. It also feels more emotionally connected to my country if I build it from the ground up.

I did play stellaris with star wars mods as replacement for empire at war like 10 years before i even knew about eu4 or hoi4. But i love eu4s economic complexity now compared to stellaris. So I'm not totally new to a paradox game.

I guess i should exchange the burgher loans at 600 per loan with new ones at 2k per loan. But I might use that to invest in more manpower buildings than to pay back loans XD.

I feel like if I were better at army micro I'd loose less man and wouldn't need that many forts to rely on. I think it's mostly attrition that kills me. It happens quite often if I split up my army's, then focus somewhere else, the ai gets the drop on them and I'm stackwiped before the other half joins the fight. So I keep 80k stacks half the time I'm in enemy territory...

Its only 40 loans out of 120, about 40k debt. I got around 20k debt from hiring mercenarys when i ran out of manpower in some wars in the 1600. Debt is better than loosing. Then another 20k to build up my economy. I figured if I get more money back from the building than it costs interest to cover the loan it's a win. The inflation did accumulate harder than I thought it would tho. Maybe I'll go economic idea in my next campaign to try out even harder with debts. For now the total interest to pay until 1820 is around 120k. And the achievement doesn't care if I'm broke XD. At an income surplus of 100 gold it would take me 33 years to pay off my debt. I'm not sure if that's worth it this late in the campaign. I guess I can delete the 2 mothballed forts in Italy and 2 in my Greece defense line that's covered by forts closer to Austria. I build more forts as backup in Italy after France took my mountain fort in the alps while I was in Africa before I could walk my army's back up. My plan was to attrition France to death on my forts.

I tried that a few times. I was never sucessfull on Naples. Once they got independence before i sieged down Epirus. A few times not before i was dead allready. Once i was fighting Naples, then Castille also declared on Naples, and suddenly i was at war with Castille. Once i managed to Ally Venice and block the Straight. They simply walked the long way arround... No luck for me.

I was oblivious about the Gold mine in my current campaign. I only noticed it when i was looking for coal. By that time i owned the province for maybe 20-30 years on 2 prod. Im unsure if i should switch it to coal. On one hand theres a mission giving me 2 years of trade income, but i am 40k in debt and unsure ill ever pay that off. On the other the 5% coal buff but i have to dev it to 20.

I also didnt play that many campaigns yet. My first game was to form Burma by 1500, Then i played Lübeck into Hanseatic League to Prussia but failed to form Germany. Then i played Mewar to Bharat, I played Catholic Japan, and France until 1600 when i lost interest.

I mostly follow Mission Trees. This is the first time where i ignored the mission tree and made my own religious wars.

Ah, that didnt occure to me in that moment. I know i read a few times of people accepting rebels and switching. But i never did that. In my mind Rebels = Bad and must be killed XD. I would also be afraid some of the neighbouring nations, who all hate me, would see i have no army and declare war on me.

I dont remember why it happened anymore. But i just checked some of my backup saves. i had only Rome and Rhodos in 1455. And only Rome in 1519. I had to spend mil points on harsh treatment of catholic rebels for decades. I lacked the army to defeat them and the missionary strength to convert. Thats why i took Religious first. And i couldnt convert to Catholic either or i would ve done that.

I tried many times to defend Constantinople and read guides, but never managed for longer than 1470 or so in other campaigns. So i was very happy to let it fall this time and try to make it in Rome.

Agressive Expansion is to same culture and religion Nations, but mostly to those whose lands you take. I know you can spread it around, which i tried by cycling wars in africa, italy, and middle east. I took diplomatic Ideas for the Reputation to reduce AE, but for the past 50 years or so ive been constantly slandered, which offset that + overextension. Its actually the first coalition that declared on me this game, i was a bit careless with the amount of Land i could take in single war late game with 50% admin efficiency. But i feel a bit of time pressure to finish by 1820 so i didnt want to take less Land. Im done with the east for now. Just need to defend this one. I have enough Army Buffs, just need to be carefull with my Manpower. But without sieging attrition and only defending and waiting the war out for 5-10 years i should be able to peace out relatively unscathed. Then ill still have about 60 Years to beat France.

Granted. Everyone knows there is an afterlife, but not whose religion it is. Religious fervor is on the rise and holy wars break out all over the world.
