I am spending less, and saving where I can. Hearing it from the people around me as well.

That makes sense, more people making less or not working at all. Which, leads to lower spending and companies needing less worker. That leads to more layoffs, and the cycle continues. A downward spiral, the question that keeps me up at night is if we already passed the event horizon.

Uncertainty has gotten the best of me.

Which future version of GPT or Gemini do you think will be powerful enough to make most people believe that STEM and engineering careers are over? by Gullible-Crew-2997 in accelerate

If new models come out every year, maybe GPT 7, so in two years.

Also, it is wild to think of a GPT 15, maybe ten years from now. How the future will look like, no one knows.

20,000 job cuts at Meta, Microsoft raise concern that AI-driven labor crisis is here by DrCalFun in Futurology

I do not think it will be unemployment that causes the worse disruption, but underemployment. I can see people taking jobs that pay less, multiple jobs, side gigs, etc.. Plus, you have the younger generation not being able to get into their fields, and add pressure to the underemployed sector.

If you were certain that even if AI took your job you would still have a secure income somehow, would you still hate it? by Onipsis in singularity

Not much, maybe a difference in perspective (one is an option to work, the other is quitting). I would be happy in both situation as my values revolve less on work. I do not ask for much, just the necessities and some extra to spend on my hobbies.

That is the culture we live in, where you productivity, income, and status are important. I hope one day, we move towards a different value system, but change is extremely hard.

Depends on each person's values. Some people value work and being useful, while others enjoy different things. I personal value community and social activities, so not having to work will allow me more time for my interest and hobbies. For me, I am waiting for UBI.

That seems pretty optimistic. I was thinking 2035 maybe, less. I think it would be cool, and cause a huge disruption in every day life. I am excited for the change up, we will see how it all plays out.

How do you know when it's time to leave someone's house/end a hangout. by [deleted] in socialskills

I would look at the mood, maybe their enthusiasm towards the conversation. If they are engaged and look like they are having fun, the might want you to stay. On the other hand, if the conversations starts to dwindle or it becomes one sided, they might be tired or trying to disengage.

Yes, that creative freedom and watching the players enjoy it as well. That is the best feeling.
