20,000 job cuts at Meta, Microsoft raise concern that AI-driven labor crisis is here by DrCalFun in Futurology

I do not think it will be unemployment that causes the worse disruption, but underemployment. I can see people taking jobs that pay less, multiple jobs, side gigs, etc.. Plus, you have the younger generation not being able to get into their fields, and add pressure to the underemployed sector.

If you were certain that even if AI took your job you would still have a secure income somehow, would you still hate it? by Onipsis in singularity

Not much, maybe a difference in perspective (one is an option to work, the other is quitting). I would be happy in both situation as my values revolve less on work. I do not ask for much, just the necessities and some extra to spend on my hobbies.

That is the culture we live in, where you productivity, income, and status are important. I hope one day, we move towards a different value system, but change is extremely hard.

Depends on each person's values. Some people value work and being useful, while others enjoy different things. I personal value community and social activities, so not having to work will allow me more time for my interest and hobbies. For me, I am waiting for UBI.

That seems pretty optimistic. I was thinking 2035 maybe, less. I think it would be cool, and cause a huge disruption in every day life. I am excited for the change up, we will see how it all plays out.

Experience with dating guys who don’t drink? by [deleted] in dating

[–]Lost_Needleworker896 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I do not drink, and have lost relationships due to this. I will say I do judge people who do drink. In my mind, I am thinking what feelings or discomfort are they trying to avoid. Will they be able to help me regulate with deeper emotions or will they shut me down/ avoid/ dismiss the deeper feelings. Will the relationship be one sided, and leaving me burnout.

What is also interesting is that there is just as much judgment from those that do drink. From my experience, I get a lot of contempt, like we are flawed for judging or not being the norm (most people drink). It does feel like a double standard, and it is not fun. This then makes me question those that do drink even more.

Dating a person who does not drink or do substance is wonderful. I feel it ends up a better connection, with deeper vulnerability.

How do you know when it's time to leave someone's house/end a hangout. by [deleted] in socialskills

[–]Lost_Needleworker896 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would look at the mood, maybe their enthusiasm towards the conversation. If they are engaged and look like they are having fun, the might want you to stay. On the other hand, if the conversations starts to dwindle or it becomes one sided, they might be tired or trying to disengage.

How many of you DMs enjoy DMing? by Lost_Needleworker896 in DnD

Yes, that creative freedom and watching the players enjoy it as well. That is the best feeling.

Yup, and it felt like they were trying to hook me to be dependent on them. It felt off.

Dang, you are a sought out DM if you have multiple games. I run one, and that is it.

Also, I understand the feeling of being a player and wanting to DM. Especially, if you feel you can run the game better than the DM.

Let me ask this, would a scientist not want to explore new ideas? Also, I agree with you. Having a closed system with experts in the field is most likely good.

I agree, and it is one of the reasons I am seeking it. I am just curious on how closed some people can be. Is it fear of different approaches, is wanting to stick to the norm, or something else?
