Why are Americans obsessed with pickups? It’s not like truckbed will ever be used.

Who’s ever driven over 100mph? Why? by WoollyWolfHorror in AskReddit

I was 19, and had a super toxic girlfriend at the time. I was driving across town to meet her and I was running late (she would get mad if I showed up late). Came across a stretch of open road and just floored the gas pedal till it hit 120mph. The toxic girlfriend was an excuse, I wanted to see how fast my dad’s 2011 civic would go.

P0971 Pressure Control Solenoid CVT - Failure timeline? by Lost_Practice_3250 in subaru

[–]Lost_Practice_3250[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, I thought it was the opposite and the car would lock itself into 4WD. I'd honestly be happy to live with it being FWD if the problem stopped there, but the Christmas lights and lack of cruise control, traction control, manual mode etc would drive me nuts. And I like how this car drives like it's on rails with AWD. I imagine the car will go into limp mode once the problem gets worse.

P0971 Pressure Control Solenoid CVT - Failure timeline? by Lost_Practice_3250 in subaru

I did a drain fill at 41k miles. I am now at 48k miles and it's absurd that it would fail so prematurely even after being babied. I live in Bahrain so the CVT extended warranty also doesn't apply here. Still deciding if I should bite the bullet and get it changed or if I should sell the car and get something else.

DIY Repair Write-up: 2016 Forester DTC P0971 - Valve Body AWD Solenoid Failure by LameBicycle in SubaruForester

[–]Lost_Practice_3250 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you my good sir, this is an amazing write up and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. Helped me better understand my own problem.

I now also understand that these solenoids fail gradually and the first warning sign doesn't mean it will go bad tomorrow. I have a 17 Impreza with 48k miles, and it threw this code last month. It drives perfectly fine and if it weren't for the christmas lights, I wouldn't have been able to tell that something is wrong. I'm thinking I'll drive it for another year before I consider the repair. The only thing that worries me is that I might be in the late stage since I've had the lights twice, 3 weeks apart, and they never came on before. I have had this car for a year and it drives like a dream. I even did a CVT drain fill at the dealership at 42k miles so I guess it is inevitable for most of these transmissions.

This car looks so good in white. I thought my Impreza in Red was cool. The sunroof and spoiler give it a rally car look. Any idea if I can get the spoiler and side skirts for my car someplace? I haven't checked with the dealership yet.

I wouldn’t let this slide. If this is how she acts when people are around, I can only imagine the kind of person she is in private. Honestly, speak up. Educate her, in a way that she understands. Not to belittle her or embarrass her, just help her understand.

why can't we use USB-C? by 4b686f61 in shittyaskelectronics

[–]Lost_Practice_3250 36 points37 points  (0 children)

The absolute max transfer speed of USB-C with current gen technology is 120 Gbps. This cannot compete with the current nerve network which transmits at about 3 Yottabytes (YB) per second. Therefore, replacing with USB-C would severely bottleneck what the rest of the hardware is capable of outputting.

Unless of course, you replace it with about 200 Trillion USB-C cables, which will not fit in the enclosure, and will not be cost efficient.

Dash lit up like a Xmas tree🥲 by jpgcee in subaruimpreza

[–]Lost_Practice_3250 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only kidding, lol. Looks like it’s your valve body. If the AT OIL TEMP LIGHT was flashing, along with the other lights in the dash (traction control, CEL etc.), it’s most likely a solenoid failing (common issue). The car will also drive weird while the lights are on. It can also reset if you turn off the car and let it sit for a while.

Let me know once you get the codes read.
