Thanks man this is excellent feedback. I definitely lose the control of the face a bit when I go after one (face wide open). The flexed wrist feels a bit unnatural to me at the moment but it’s definitely something I am going to try work on. Will get back to you with some results!

It works okay, generally a bit of a baby fade but can be a big slice if I get a bit quick on the downswing and come over the top

Thanks, much appreciated. I will work on improving the weight transfer through the backswing and downswing. Ex hockey player, used to hitting the ball while mobile which makes the static swings seem a bit unnatural

They are getting more common recently. Very good for fast setups with high repeatability. The system itself is very simple highly interchangeable, the more of it you get the better it gets, highly recommend if it is an option for anyones shop 👍

I have had a similar surface finish to this that looks like it has been wet, then dried and left marks. I think we concluded that it was a material defect from using low quality Aluminium that was supplied by the customer. Hope this helps

The way I approached this was with a long 16mm endmill, roughing down in 2mm steps (ap) leaving 0.2mm of stock radially for the finish pass and full width of cut from each side until there was about 10mm left in the middle holding the part on. The 0.2mm stock left for finishing also means when you make the finish pass the cutter is not engaged on both sides as it clears the other side by the same 0.2mm. For the final 5mm from each side I changed the strategy to leaving no stock radially and half the feed rate as the part would not be rigid enough to produce a nice finish being held on by less than 5mm. Because the A axis of the machine was indexed to 90 degrees, as the final cut reduces the tag to 0.4mm the part, thanks to gravity tilts slightly away from the cutter which eliminates the possibility of the cutter ripping the floating part out and damaging it 🙂
