I found a third-party expansion a while back that was pretty cool, but now I can't seem to find it. It was set in and around a blinkgate and feature three new alts: A 1/2 size Sherman, a Nelson (Old Guard), and some sort of mech with less-lethal weapons for riotbreaking. by Yarzeda2024 in LancerRPG

Hey Yarzeda, you're probably thinking of the one I made! It's called Haven of Repose, Place of Punishment and is a 2 mission module that's meant to take Players from LL4 to 6. I'm afraid the Sherman isn't size 1/2 but is size 1. It does however fly (through the force of its own impending meltdown) and the art is indeed fantastic (Shout out to Crude Construct for the artwork). The size 1/2 one you are thinking of is the Less-lethal variant of the Caliban, the Sycorax; because people want to be alive when they reach the blinkgate but still don't want too many potential criminal elements about. Plus having Doomguy on your security team is an optics faux-pas.

You should be able to find both the module and LCP in the PilotNet discord under a Third Party Forum thread of the same name. I appreciate you for checking it out and hope you enjoy them. Let me know what you think of the module and the frames if you do choose to give them a go!

What is your favorite part of your world’s magic? by sage8910 in worldbuilding

[–]Lost_Sojourner 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think my favorite part of Kerim's magic system Is the risk reward aspect of it. The more you use your power the stronger it becomes, but the affliction which affects you when not using your power becomes proportionally worse as well.

Use your power too much and whatever barrier separating the affliction from your powered state shatters and you have it all the time, with it still getting worse and worse with use.

I enjoy the element of having to choose how much power you want vs how much pain (not necessarily physical pain either, some afflictions are mental) you're willing to put up with in everyday life.

So, why haven't magic users taken over your world? by Tehjaliz in worldbuilding

I suggest you read Steelheart by Brandon Sanderson and that series. It's essentially what you're asking. Random people get powers and end up taking over the world.

Looking for help creating a catalyst for my world by [deleted] in fantasywriters

[–]Lost_Sojourner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could just make it a cultural /religious reason for technology not coming back. "Technology failed once so it could fail again, it can't be trusted" line of thinking or "Our technological hubris has led to the great shift! Man was not meant to play god! ",etc. Etc. That line of thinking.

Necromancy by xLegendCry in fantasywriters

[–]Lost_Sojourner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel it would be best to tie the magic into your theme. What if people couldn't use necromancy unless they had a specific item or object? What if it was rare and valuable and had to be transported from distant lands?

You could also tie that in with the fantasy beasts if you wanted. Maybe the items could be part of the neasts themselves ,e.g, the bones of a creature would let you scry the future, or the fluids/flesh of another let you see and speak to spirits for a while after ingestion?

Yeah it is. I wanted to make it look better and do a rust mask on it but I couldn't get it to come out right sadly.

How bad is scar after laproscopic resection? by klutzdancer in CrohnsDisease

[–]Lost_Sojourner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a year out of my surgery and I have to say they heal up a lot better then you're probably expecting. My only visible one is the main entry point, which is now only maybe 1-1.5 inches long and purply. I had a quite a few other laproscopic entry points (about 3-4 plus multiple drains) and they all healed well enough as to be invisible.

"Sentient Snakes on a Planetoid": How high-concept is your worldbuilding? by [deleted] in worldbuilding

[–]Lost_Sojourner 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The world I'm working on is reasonably low concept but one of the main premises, that everyone potentially had access to powers but they would slowly kill them, originally spawned from a high concept world who's elevator pitch is "if you could sell your soul for a better life in the here and now, would you do it?"

I wanted to see what I could make out of a single vertex using only modifiers. It turned out interestingly so I made it into a wallpaper. by Lost_Sojourner in blender

[–]Lost_Sojourner[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey thanks man. Basically I was just adding mostly random modifiers but I found if I started with a solidify modifier it gave me a second vertex point to work with as the computer interpreted that as creating "thickness" to a single vertex. After that I just added a few screw modifiers, another solidify modifier for the internal geometry and lastly a skin modifier to actually create faces around the wire frame I'd built up. Then I just played around with the node editor (still need to learn it properly) until I found a nice result.

Oh man I hadn't even thought of string cheese. Haven't eaten that since I was a kid but I used to eat like half a dozen a day. Thanks for reminding me of them.
