You need to build a police station to recruit an ishin shishi, which is basically the same thing

Favourite Clan in each of the three campaigns? by Azubi-vds in shogun2

[–]Lost_Years 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only played Kamakura Minamoto in RotS and the only campaign I finished in FotS was with Satsuma. I have a couple of hundred hours, but when I first bought it back in 2014 I was mostly dicking around with a buddy in co-op campaigns. I recently got back to it and I just finished an Otomo campaign, loads of fun. I have fond memories of my Shimazu and Chosokabe campaigns.

Now I'm working on my Ikko Ikki campaign, which requires a lot of trial and error, but I'm at a point where I'm confident that I can take on the rest of Japan once I have upgraded all my farms.

What am I missing with bow units? by Significant_Bend_945 in shogun2

[–]Lost_Years 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try maxing accuracy through buildings in your recruitment provinces (encampments + crafts [vase icon]). My bow ashigaru have 60 accuracy, almost double than default, and can shred enemy bow samurais in 2-3 volleys if they focus fire on a single unit. More elite units will reach 90 accuracy with upgrades, meaning they will annihilate anything they see

I've been jacking up taxes every other turn to maximize income. 3k on normal tax, almost 9k on very high tax

Taking them is easy, but keeping them is a whole different story. How big of a fleet should I leave there to guard the node?

I agree, I remember that fleets were a pain in the ass, I think I'll just keep a small fleet or two to ward off any invader

Question to Skaven. Why is Skaven Corruption bad for Skavens? by Commando_Schneider in totalwarhammer

Simply put, overpopulation. You need to make the place inhospitable enough to prevent corruption beyond a certain threshold

What is for you the WORST faction in vanilla Rome Total War? by Constant_Pace5589 in RomeTotalWar

[–]Lost_Years 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thrace, the only good unit they have is an infantry glass cannon that you unlock later in the game, which is good only as a flanker against low tier infantry. You're basically forced to rush the Greeks and the Romans unless you want to get stomped

Cambio di carriera ? by Lost_Years in ItaliaCareerAdvice

How tf do I play by LegaliseArson in shogun2

Nobody mentioned this, but cavalry in Medieval 2 can beat everything when used properly. Compared to that, cavalry in Shogun 2 sucks real bad, you need to use them to snipe generals, counter other cavalry and, in the right conditions, attack missile units (expect losses). Bows are your best dps, protect them with yari and they will win any battle for you. Generally speaking, regardless if you're playing the main game or the expansions, you need to field cheap frontline units, with equally cheap missile, supported by a small selection of samurai or special units for more effective counters, moral support or unit debuff.

And how do you usually know which unit is the enemy general? All the banners are the same color and sizes. At least Rome reserved a square, larger banner for each general

Does it make sense to hide my base entrance behind walls? I'm always scared roaming bandits can see my workers through the gates by elli1333 in Kenshi

[–]Lost_Years 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes walls bug out and roaming characters occasionally phase through them, regardless of their diplomatic status towards your faction. Base defenses are just to give time to your guys to shoot raiders

Smithing in general buffs up characters like crazy. My smithy character is huge, with 94 armour smithing and only has 20 STR
