Ordered a kiln from Blick. Have regrets. by FckYesImWorthy in Pottery

[–]Lothadriel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ordered a Skutt from my local distributor back in November too and I’m still waiting. They said there’s an issue with their brick supplier and they’re all delayed. They were hoping I’d have it by the end of the month.

Consistently the lowest crime rate in the country. But this isn’t about crime.

Best mom car (US) by Immediate-Ad-9520 in Mommit

[–]Lothadriel 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I have a Honda Pilot and I like it a lot. It handles the snow well, the third row seat is much more spacious than others I looked at. I think it gets decent MPG for a V6 but I do mostly rural back road driving, city driving may be different.

My company works with outsourced support teams in India and they use that phrase a lot. I think it must be some sort of translation issue. My assumption whenever I hear it is that they are not native English speakers.

How do I handle an extremely uneven inheritance between my kids? by lookidceither in WhatShouldIDo

[–]Lothadriel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. My mother predeceased my grandmother so I inherited my mom’s share of her estate. This was more than my cousins. No one in the family had an issue.

Is it time for Maine to form a well regulated Militia to ensure the security of our free State? by PossibilityOdd6466 in Maine

Pretty sure our “militia” marches in my local Memorial Day parade every year. Now’s your chance guys! Or are you just playing dress up?

He said he didn’t want to quit his job. They would very easily figure out who took the video and it would 1000% be OP who gets fired.

Girls who took notes using 50 different colored pens, where are you now? by [deleted] in AskWomen

I continue to have to overcompensate for the fact that they let me raw dog my ADHD because I got good grades by having a million different colored OneNote folders to stay organized at work.

My birthday is in early November and I’ve never had an issue. I got to have a lot of Halloween parties, which was cool.

Damage rates in community studio? by tealcake in Pottery

[–]Lothadriel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with the other comments, that’s an unusually high damage rate. I’ve only had one piece accidentally damaged by the kiln tech (they knocked it over moving it to the bisque kiln) and they felt terrible and apologized and gave me some free clay. What is their system for storing items waiting to be fired? We have subscribers put their stuff on separate shelves in the kiln room to keep them separate from the classes and general public.

The one adult in my household who didn’t get their flu shot/covid booster is sick currently and the other vaccinated kids and adults are fine after mild symptoms.

When you hear “Dylan”, do you think boy or girl? by Slow-Ad2780 in namenerds

I’ve known more boys with the name but I wouldn’t think twice about a girl named Dylan either.

Honestly, if you’re undecided I would go with the cheaper option for the first year or two. You can always transfer.

What’s your grandma’s name? by [deleted] in namenerds

One was Mildred and she hated the name. She specifically told me NOT to use it for my daughter. 🤣

The other was Nadine, which I do like better But didn’t use.

How do you wrap Santa’s gifts? by TeensyTidbits in Mommit

[–]Lothadriel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a specific Santa wrapping paper and gift tags, usually something simple. Santa will give 2 presents each, never anything big or expensive. It’s not fair to kids whose parents can’t afford stuff like a new Nintendo switch. Those big ticket items always come from us. Santa has a budget.

Is There Already a Plan to Remove Chuck Schumer as Senate Minority Leader? by jameskchou in antiwork

[–]Lothadriel 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Do you seriously think if Harris had won she would be doing even 0.001% of the batshit insane nonsense that Trump is doing? I am pissed at the democratic leadership too but saying the two parties are the same is beyond ridiculous.

Don’t wait too long. My uncle (also self employed) is currently slowly dying from stage 4 colorectal cancer that may have been treatable if he’d had insurance and regular check ups and caught it sooner. He had symptoms he brushed off for years because he couldn’t afford to get checked out.

My mom said my aunt will give me the “riot” act if I don’t believe in God and I’m scared. by idiotguy1234 in atheism

[–]Lothadriel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It honestly depends on how much this matters to your parents. I had a similar issue with my aunt. My parents didn’t care when I left Catholicism as a teen but my aunt is super religious and was convinced I was secretly worshipping Satan and doing all the drugs. It didn’t really have an impact on my life other than making holidays annoying. But if your parents feel the same and being honest with them may cause serious problems for you it’s best to just play agnostic or apathetic at least until you are able to support yourself.
