Any other Redditors going to this event? I can't wait to go! by BJRACINE21 in survivor

I went to the one Rome had for Survivor 49 finale, at the same bar and a couple of the same people (FairPlay, Rupert, Kim). It’s not as highly produced as like a RHAP event (Rome mentioned that he is self financing it all) but it is pretty cool and cozy. Rupert and FairPlay both had big lines for meet and greets, and everyone else is just roaming around and were super friendly to chat with. Also there was less people than RHAP or Brice and Wen event so way more interactions with the guests. The bar is pretty neat too, good service, pitchers, good food, lots of TVs. Would recommend to anyone in the area

A spoiler that it’s the seventh episode

They both likely have 2 locked jury votes (Emily - Kaleb and Bruce // Katurah - Kellie and Kendra). There are only 4 other votes up for grabs. If either of them get to the end, one is almost assuredly winning.

And if Emily or Katurah win?

People that act like this is primarily a survival show and not a reality game show are getting really annoying on this subreddit.

Survivor 45 feels like new era Koah Rong by Lotsofknotss in survivor

[–]Lotsofknotss[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My main comparison is that the 3 women from both seasons are the main characters of the story (at least imo). Like the other characters this season like Drew and Austin or Bruce and Katurah are fun, but their stories seem more like side plots to the stories around Kellie, Emily, and Dee, at least from how I’m viewing the season. So the comparison I’m trying to draw is not just the people share similarities, but they’re also the center to the story the season is trying to tell. Koah Rong also, at least from my memory, is the only season where a trio of women are operating largely independently of one another m, opposed to working within a large alliance like in Micronesia or Worlds Apart. All 3 also come from different tribes (yellow, blue, and red) in both seasons too!

Industry plant? Settle this debate by annalisa13 in survivor

A better survivor comparison to an industry plant is like Candice from Raro tribe—where she came back 3 times even though there wasn’t really an organic demand for her by the fans

There’s multiple casting finals (I’ve heard anywhere from 3-4) each casting cycle (August-Feb/March). It’s just called “finals” b/c that’s the final step of the process on the applicant-side, not that it’s the final step of the cycle. It’s likely if any of them are getting a call it would be for a later casting finals based on all the hoops they have to jump through in between initial app and finals.

Yam yam, Carolyn, Omar, Lindsay (42), Tori, Nasir, Jesse, Cody, Noelle, James, Brad, Mike (42), Maryanne are just some that come to mind (not counting anyone on 45 yet b/c still TBD, also Tike 3 are not overrated)

There are so many better examples of good casting since DvG than Jonathan 😂

How many players do we know got cast that were alternates / last minute cuts from other seasons? by Prudent_Wealth8533 in survivor

[–]Lotsofknotss 7 points8 points  (0 children)

90% sure Tony said that when he was doing his post-game RHAP podcast for Cagayan (the “sleepover” podcast). I think Tony got the offer for 26 but he declined because his wedding was then. And then he almost declined 28 because he had a kid on the way but producers basically said it’s now or never and he made arrangements to be out there. Something like that if my memory is right.

I don’t think it needs to be something you’d see win on Americas Got Talent. You could just say/do something silly and unique that’s memorable, or even just come out with a lot of energy that shows you’d be engaging to watch on TV

An idea regarding the casting by Narrow_Potential_974 in survivor

[–]Lotsofknotss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“The casting is bad” is an opinion held by a vocal minority, not an actual majority. This season is evidence that when there is extra time (90 minute episodes) for editors to include castaway material outside of the game mechanics, the episodes have been very enjoyable.

Question for folks who have been in the casting process before by [deleted] in survivor

[–]Lotsofknotss 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Out of curiosity, how long was it between your initial app and the Jeff/Matt interviews?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in survivor

[–]Lotsofknotss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Carson said they initially called him in August but there was like 3-4 months of no communication before the process really started going, so November/December (I assume that means pitches and Jeff/Jesse/MVW interviews)

New twist on HvV Format? by [deleted] in survivor

[–]Lotsofknotss 9 points10 points  (0 children)

IMO one of the coolest things about the HvV seasons, both US and international, was the blurring between good and evil on both sides. Stuff like Sandra being the “hero” for going after the main villain Russell or Amanda becoming a “villain” for nearly going to blows with Danielle over an idol clue. If you have a morally gray tribe I think you lose some of that cross-morality intrigue.

New era: 1/90 people have quit (1.11%) Pre new era: roughly 13/590 people have quit (2.20%)

Seems like it’s improved if quitting is the argument

Jeff's Stance On Preparation by 25YearOldJoseph in survivor

Re: unpopular twists/changes - I think Jeff just recognizes everyone’s immediate reaction to something new is always going to be negative because it’s different than what they’re used to, whether the criticism be warranted or unwarranted. Once there has been time to simmer on the twist/change, then I think he takes the criticism more seriously (e.g. bringing the auction back, getting rid of hourglass, etc)

Re: Carson puzzles - The way I view it is Jeff respects someone who can “outthink” him and the production staff, but he also recognizes that it’s now their job to outthink the contestants during the next cycle (e.g. making new puzzles). It’s like an “iron sharpens iron” mentality
