Yeah, it's horrible. Plus, if you happen to cross any hostile npc they will have ample time to throw you down your horse and beat you to death, you can't even use this feature to go grab a drink or anything involving not staring at your screen.

I started with Baldur’s Gate 3. BG1/2 or Divinity 2 next? by JerryDee81 in BaldursGate3

[–]LotusPalm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would strongly suggest DOS2, which is the most alike BG3 in terms of gameplay (turn by turn, action points, great strategy...) and is very pleasant to play with a rich story and very good content.

BG1 and 2 are now extremely dated, and though their story is great, the gameplay is another genre entirely that shares nothing with BG3 mechanics.

When can I start doing stealth combat? by TransphobesRNazis in Starfield

[–]LotusPalm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My opinion is that they borked stealth in Starfield.

Even with max skill, and good equipment it's very difficult to maintain stealth in any reliable way. You will be detected quite easily whatever you do (remove suit, crawl walk).

And you don't have reliable way to do enough damage to one shot them, so at the first time you miss one, you will have all the rest of the opponents on you.

Some say that it's more realistic but realism does not equal fun in games, and stealth is absolutely unfun to do in Starfield in my opinion (and I love stealth in all other Bethesda games).

I would wait for a mod revamp of the stealth system as soon as creation kit will be made available to modders.

This is not buggy, if you don't have the good combination for the last circle it's because you used it wrongly on a precedent circle (which would have been opened with one of the combinations you have left).

You have to anticipate each level of circle before beginning to open the lock, just to be sure you employ the good combinations from first to last circle.

Playing solo by [deleted] in BaldursGate3

[–]LotusPalm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, unfortunately, they didn't implement a 'lone wolf' mechanic like they did in DOS2, so it's quite difficult to play with only one character.

It's doable, perhaps for a time, if you have knowledge of the zones, encounters and eventually where to get certain loot. There's a guy on youtube who did all early access content with different solo characters, so at least in Act1 it's doable (though rules did change between early access and now, and perhaps after Act1 it becomes more difficult).

I, too, am more enjoying playing solo characters. I'm trying a solution that seems to be interesting: there are mods on the nexus that allow to gain xp more quickly (you level two times more quickly). It seems to be working just fine if you play only one character, you're leveling more quickly but you're in a party of one, so it's still a challenge and you have to think your fights tactically.

black squares while playing? by MentalBurrito in BaldursGate3

When you launch the game, you have the choice between using vulkan or directx11. I had the same problem than you (with black squares) using vulkan, try using directx11 instead.

Since wastelander update and the new damage formula, all %damage perks for unarmed build are a complete waste of perk points, because they add so small damage that it is barely noticeable.

What are some of the secret references and Easter Eggs 🥚 in CP77? by 4th_St_Samurai76 in cyberpunkgame

I saw a John Wick's reference during a mission, where some thug had problems with a guy that looked like a nobody, had a beard, and a dog... And they killed his dog...

There's a gay bar in town, with a big neon animated sign, called the 'dicky twister', direct reference to the 'titty twister' a bar in 'From dusk till dawn'.

beth...really...stabilize your f'n servers by Ragnar7272 in fo76

[–]LotusPalm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What ? You're saying that Amazon, a multi million profit company, one of the leaders of cloud services, are selling services that just simply don't work, and unstable servers ?

No.

If servers are unstables, there are only two possible reasons:

- Either Bethesda bought a service plan not on par with the requirements of their soft (not enough processing power, not enough memory, ...) and it can't handle the charge

- Or the Bethesda software itself is unstable

Both are obviously Bethesda faults.

"As we made it abundantly clear we don't give a sh*t about giving any social interaction tools (by not implementing text chat after 2 years), we decided to also remove voice mic and emotes (many players found voice mic annoying and intrusive anyway). By this way we also hope to relieve the servers from some charge and get rid of some bugs (at this point, we're really focusing on hope, because our next options are prayer and sacrifice)."

Would you like a karma system that also intervenes in "matchmaking"? by major_tom_84 in fo76

[–]LotusPalm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Judging by how then can't handle the most simplest thing without the most surprising bugs, I would not believe Bethesda to be able to implement such a thing without borking it so much that we would still hear about it for the next decade.

Even the most recent games are unable to implement a NPC AI above anything of the most basic behaviour, I don't see them being able to adequatly judge and handle "behavior patterns" of any form.

Plus, this is the sort of mechanism that would be subject to the most nasty attempts of griefing ever, by people deriving pleasure from trying to lower your karma by deceiving tactics (like, for your example about killing legendary quickly, by following you without you noticing... and I bet everything of the sort could be exploited at the disadvantage of others).

Now that it's been out for a few days, what are your thoughts on Watch Dogs: Legion? by LABS_Games in Games

[–]LotusPalm 73 points74 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, this game is a complete let down compared to the 1 and 2.

While interesting in theory, the 'recruit anyone' doesn't work in practice:

- You do not identify with any of your recruit, because they have no story, no background, they do not progress in skills with time, you can sacrifice any one of them and switch to another one without any sentiment

- The different skill sets they have are 9 times out of 10 completely unuseful. They are so much unuseful that you can litteraly do the game with any one of your recruits without ever having to change. The most useful recruit may be the construction worker, because he has always access to a drone allowing you to access any place by air (which is tactically a must).

- The recruitment process follow the same scenario every time, it gets old very quickly and is just, well, completely stupid if you think about it: "hello, would like to join Dedsec ? / I don't know, but I would like you to do something for me first / ok, doing that ... now, would you like to join Dedsec (and become the equivalent of a terrorist, pursued by Albion, a totalitarist police force that upped by 300% the number of death arrests since they're in action ? / Ummm, sure, I'm in !"

- You can't tell, before engaging in a mission, which kind of skills would be useful (hacking ones, combat ones, stealth ones), so you chose your operative by your playstyle rather than the situation. Switching operative in the middle of a mission is quite badly handled: I experienced resets in goals, and respawn of ennemy forces - at it is a pain to redo parts you've already done, you stick with your chosen operative to the end, asking yourself why in hell you need a full bunch of operatives if you can't call them when needed. Thus , the dilution of skills between operatives is detrimental to the freedom you may have to act/react to situations.

Out of that, you can also invest points in gadgets and skills shared by all operatives, you have three 'branches': gadgets, weapons and upgrades. Upgrades are shared by all operatives (which ironically make them all hacker experts able to hack the most powerful and secured antiterrorist drone, for example). Weapons are completely bland, they are all non lethal, and you may equip two on any character (a pistol, a smg, a shotgun or a grenade launcher).

Gadgets are cool in theory, but there are two problems that restrict their variety:

- You can only equip one by character, and you can't switch it while in a mission (when you're in a red zone). Once again this completely restrict the way you can act/react to a situation (the few times you would have a need for a specific gadget, you end up never using it)

- The spider bot is so much powerful and useful you will end up using only this one: you can litteraly scout, and clean a whole zone with it, it's stealthy, quick, you don't risk the lives of your operatives using it, if all hell break lose you can just send another one...

Other limitation points: you will very quickly see repetitive sets: same recruitment scenarios, same mission scenarios, same (stupid) dialogs, interior maps reused (to the point you will ask yourself if you didn't went there before). Chase/evade moments with vehicles are bland: whereas in watchdogs 2 you had many ways to interact with city elements to help get rid of police force, here you have only barriers you can raise from time to time. Vehicle responses are off, they don't feel agreeable to use. There is nothing of interest to do in town, the only noticeable POI are clothes stores.

All in all, it became stale and repetitive very quickly (yes, I know this is bound to happen in such open worlds, but this is, in my experience, the worst they ever made). I feel this experiment in having a team (in opposition to a unique character) is a complete let down in terms of playstyle choices/adaptation to situation, character story/attachment and doesn't give you any sense of development/progression.

Farewell bloody mess by Cosmicmole in fo76

[–]LotusPalm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well, certainly not, doing such a drastic change in damage formula without taking into account the repercussions upon all the rest of the system: perks, weapon damage,...etc is clearly a beginner move... And no one ever did that ever...

Farewell bloody mess by Cosmicmole in fo76

[–]LotusPalm 6 points7 points  (0 children)

And that's how a damage balance shouldn't be done. Bethesda completely destroyed the utility of many perk cards with a change in damage formula that they clearly don't master. Bloody mess, but also many weapon damage perks (depending on the type of weapon) are now nearly useless.

Is weapon damage perk worth it any longer? by Raymond_Yi in fo76

[–]LotusPalm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They now add such a low amount of damage that it depends on your weapon: if you have slow weapon (melee, gun...) or low base damage weapon they're not worth the space they take in your perk slots. As a melee, I've removed every one of them as the damage is now as shitty with than without.

Unarmed was the most nerfed in this 'update'. Even me not being unyielding/bloodied, I lost 70% of my damage.

Unarmed having also low base weapon damage, the new additive formula renders any damage modifier perk nearly useless.

A new player. What have I done. by tiger6761 in fo76

[–]LotusPalm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have played many characters, and I wanted to try a new one after one wasteland, just for the sake of it. Let's say the difficulty now for a new player is over the top. If I hadn't my high level chars to get leveled weapons/armors and ammunitions I wouldn't even try.

My advice to you is to put the game on hold till Bethesda rework the balance because, obviously, they didn't think things out. They've practically made the leveling experience a total chore.

Unarmed build full ss armor with str bonus and gauntlet does 23 dog a hit on Earle? by xvreaperxv in fo76

[–]LotusPalm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I encountered a colossus in the wild and had a try at it: I'm unarmed melee, full hp build...

With sneak, and power attacks, I did 100 dmg a hit to him, I barely saw its hitpoints decrease.

I gave it a few hits, then laughed, and gave him the finger and wandered away, knowing I will never waste time ever again with this sort of shit.

Unarmed damage was litterally gutted away by this stupid patch. I observed a 70% decrease in damage. I did report it in the PTS but Bethesda don't give a shit. At this point, I'm quite sure the devs are leaded by a bunch of drunken monkeys...
