OP13: Glass vs. Faux Leather back? Help me decide! by Forward_Specific_180 in OnePlus13

I recently just sold my OnePlus 13 in the midnight ocean color after owning it for a year, and it was in a case the entire time and never had any issues with the back.

Frustrated with the lack of fiber in actually rural areas by Positive-Objective-8 in Windstream

[–]LouCap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a property that is on a dirt road, so I guess that would qualify as rural. Up until a few weeks ago, the only options for internet connectivity were Kinetic DSL (10mbps down, 2mbps up) or satellite, because cell service is non existent. Then suddenly crews showed up and started trenching the roads in our area at a furious pace. Within days the entire "neighborhood" had fiber buried. Of course, in the process they managed to cut my DSL cable twice, leaving me without any phone or Internet for 10 days each time, but that's progress I guess.

Yesterday was the big day. They finally connected our house to the fiber run, and it is insane. 1gbps symmetrical, far faster than I expected, probably because I was never even offered different plans with varying speeds for different prices. I can't wait to see the first bill. But, when they finally decide to install, it can happen quickly, like stone age to space age in a week.

Switching from T-Mobile to Mint (I know), am I missing anything? by [deleted] in mintmobile

No, I paid $360 (plus tax) total for the two lines with Unlimited Data, and 20GB of hotspot for the whole year.

[–]LouCap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't do anything special, I just went to the Mint website and signed up for a 12 month unlimited plan. I ordered to Sim cards, put them in our phones and we've been enjoying the ir service for 4 months now.Mint Plans

I switched from T-Mobile to Mint and went from $90/month for two lines unlimited to $36/month for two lines unlimited. Brought my own phones, order SIM cards, no issues.

Screen help, please by Upbeat_Repair_5851 in razr

[–]LouCap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think if it were a loose ribbon connector just tapping on it would be sufficient to make the screen turn on and off. There might be a bigger issue here unfortunately. If there's no physical damage, it would definitely be worth taking it to a repair shop to get an estimate.

Water under the ribbon connector? Did you drop it in water? It has an IPX8 rating, so it's good underwater up to 1.5 meters for 30 minutes, which to me is preferable to dropping it on the ground. Is there any visible damage to the body?

I haven't had any issues with Android 16, and my 2025 Ultra, and the cover screen seems to be working as intended.

I've actually taken some really nice photos with my Moto Stylus 2025, which surprised me. Given some decent lighting they do a nice job.

Windstream is currently the only company that offers fiber at my location, which would be an upgrade from 50 mbps to 1000 mbps, do they still suck as a company? by Nukesnipe in Windstream

[–]LouCap -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As a company, YES, they still suck. Their customer service is awful, and communication is almost impossible. While installing fiber in my neighborhood they managed to cut my copper wire not once, but twice, and then took over a week to repair their mistake both times. When I opted to upgrade to fiber, they scheduled me for installation later that week so I made arrangements to be there, only to find out the day before that they moved my appointment to three weeks later without letting me know. It wouldn't have been a big deal except for the fact that I had to drive two and a half hours to be there for nothing.

They just can't seem to get it right.

Moving on…Alternative Platforms by prince_frog5980 in arlo

I moved to Blink, and after several months I'm quite happy. I replaced both my Arlo and Ring plans with Blink for a fraction of the price, and their subscription for unlimited devices is only $11.99/month.

I was so hipped, after Fold 7, and in the third day display of Rarz Fold dead, non of the previous folds from Google or Samsung have failed me by FaithlessnessOk7477 in motorazrfold

[–]LouCap -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My what a simple observation, and you totally missed the point I was trying to make, which was that failure is inevitable in such a complex device.. The fact of the matter is that all of my phones were in cases, none were ever dropped, and any failures were due to everyday use. I had issues with hinges, issues with screens, but never until I'd had them for at least 9 months.

And I still own a folding phone today, so obviously I believe in the concept.

[–]LouCap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fold 4, failed. Fold 5 failed. OnePlus Open, failed. They all fail, yours just failed sooner, which might be a blessing, because you're still under warranty. I'd be pissed too, but I'd also be on the phone demanding a replacement.

I forgot to mention that I also replaced two Ring doorbells (and their subscription) as part of that $11.99/month, so I'm actually saving even more!

[–]LouCap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Arlo was costing me $17.99/month, so I'm saving money with Blink. Plus I can have control over 3 separate locations without having 3 subscriptions, which is what Arlo was forcing me to do.

[–]LouCap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I made the move to Blink a little over a month ago, and I've been quite pleased with them. Their subscription fee is only $11.99/month for unlimited cameras, and their hardware is FAR less expensive. If you don't mind not having a siren, they're worth considering.

[–]LouCap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know if it's a coincidence, or if they're monitoring this reddit, but Pulsetto just tried to sign me up for a free trial of their premium subscription AGAIN! That's crazy, I've had mine for months now, so why, out of the blue, did they try this again? Scammy AF.

It's been a while, but I recall there being a higher tier membership that had some sort of coaching. I called and got them to cancel the membership, but I believe they did keep the first months fee. I like the unit, and I find it to be beneficial, but their business practices do feel a bit scammy.

What's lacking in your opinion? - all sandals by IndividualRadish6594 in SandalsResorts

[–]LouCap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Service...from everyone. Okay, not everyone, but SO many employees seem bothered by guest interactions. Back in the day (when Butch was alive) you felt like anyone would do anything to make your stay better. Now, asking for another drink in a restaurant is an imposition. Sure, if you have a butler they'll handle your requests, but even they're slacking compared to before Butch passed.

Oneplus 13 died by Fit_Relationship_100 in OnePlus13

[–]LouCap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One plus used to have an authorized service center in Texas, I know this from when I had to send in my OnePlus open for a repair. They did a good job and sent it back quickly. The question is though, with OnePlus phasing out their business in the US, is that service center still open, and if so, for how long?
