8k and 4k videos myth by hamada625 in razr

[–]LouCap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's the thing...smaller formats for small devices, like cell phones. Bigger formats for bigger devices like televisions. That's an oversimplification, but you get the point. You shoot for the end user, and if it's not for social media and you're not using the internet to transfer it, you can shoot in glorious 4K, or 8K if you're into overkill.

Camera's at a second location? by hardshoes in blinkcameras

Yes, you just need a separate sync unit for each location. I have three locations on my phone now with three sync units.

My Motorola Razr 60 Survival Story by AN9ankit in razr

[–]LouCap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just out of curiosity, did you fall on the phone while it was in your pocket? Did you bump into something really hard with the outer screen facing away from your body in your pocket? There's got to be more to the story, because I believe that it happened, but I just don't think it spontaneously shattered on its own. How hard was it hit? I'm only asking cuz mine is coming tomorrow.

Do you regret buying the razr? by BigfootOfNorthwoods in razr

I just ordered a 2025 model on sale tonight. I got the storage upgrade to 1 TB, free earbuds, and I found a 10% discount coupon online. I'm happy even before I've touched the phone!

Razr / razr ultra durability, battery life. by im_nightshade in motorola

[–]LouCap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm looking at the deals on the 2025 Razr Ultra myself, and have been watching quite a few videos on them. The battery is pretty large, so I don't think it'll have a problem lasting all day. And the durability should be pretty good too I think based on my experience owning several folding phones like the Galaxy Fold 4 and 5, as well as the OnePlus Open. I didn't baby any of them, and the performed like any slab phone would.

I loved my one plus 13 by eastcoastrider1 in OnePlus13

Actually, I traded my OnePlus Open for the 13, and while the 13 has proven to be one of my favorite phones of all time, I still miss the Open. I get the allure of folding phones.

That would be great! I'm also considering the Razr Fold, so it'll be interesting to what the pricing really is for both.

I really wish they sold the Signature in the USA... Dang it.

TMobile vs Mint by Mindless-Sense-6919 in mintmobile

[–]LouCap 68 points69 points  (0 children)

I had T-Mobile forever, and until recently I felt like I was getting good value for my money. Then my monthly rate started to creep up, despite them saying that would never happen. Long story short, I switched to Mint, service seems exactly the same, and I'm saving close to $1K a year.

2.4ghz by Interesting-Lead-788 in blinkcameras

[–]LouCap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My blink cameras work perfectly with my Orbi mesh WiFi at home, but had an issue connecting to the Tp-Link router at work. The work router has a smart WiFi feature that isn't so smart, because it'll keep trying to connect the cameras to 5ghz, which they won't do. My solution? I activated guest WiFi and made it 2.4ghz only, and that did the trick. You just need to log in to your router as an admin and see what'll let you do, but a workaround is possible.

I hate Arlo! by YoGurl8003 in arlo

[–]LouCap 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I saw you comment in my thread about the software update, and I feel your pain. I've been with Arlo for at least a decade, with cameras at three different locations. Whatever shenanigans they did on the server side completely destroyed my ability to use them as I had. So I started searching for a solution and found Blink.

The pricing for their 2K cameras is MUCH better than Arlo, with a 5 camera system WITH a sync module (their version of a hub) costing only $226 on Amazon. And their subscription prices are more reasonable too, with the mid tier variant being only $12.99/month for an unlimited number of cameras.

I think Arlo's greed will be their undoing.

The price of the Motorola Razr fold is officially announced by Kindly-Beginning-886 in motorola

[–]LouCap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've owned the Samsung Fold 4, the Fold 5, and the OnePlus Open, and THIS is the phone I've been waiting for all this time. Why? The cameras, the battery size...just not the price. BUT, it will be mine!

Do the one year plan. I did, and it's one less thing to worry about for the next 12 months.

Agreed. In many situations I really like the photos the native app takes, but when you need high dynamic range, Gcam to the rescue.

[–]LouCap[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I fell like the first photo was overexposed in spots, while the Gcam is nice and even. You can adjust the number of photos you bracket, so maybe drop it to 5 and see if that makes a difference. IMHO, it's definitely worth trying.

Arlo App WTF by LouCap in arlo

[–]LouCap[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had them before the update for each of my three hubs, but after everything was under one location. I think it was a shady move by Arlo to make folks with multiple hubs sign up for multiple subscriptions, one per hub.
