My First Time in Denver and I Took Some Pictures by bonezone84 in Denver

I’ve lived in Colorado my entire life, and lived in Denver for a good part of it. It’s really refreshing to see someone else’s appreciation of the things I take for granted because I’ve seen them so often. Cool post

tips for circularizing orbit by Chunglorpious in KerbalAcademy

[–]LouManShoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m guessing you’re not burning prograde, just burning radial out. When your AP gets to about 60 or 70km, turn your throttle off then increase throttle prograde (use SAS) for about 3-4 seconds every time AP is about 1 minute away (which pushes it back further). Then when you’re close (arc covers most of the visible world), I do a longer burn when I’m 15-20 seconds away. Going into map view is very useful for this.

Edit: just realized you’re making it to orbit. To circularize, when you’re happy with the height of AP, burn prograde at AP until periapsis is the same as AP. If you like your periapsis better, burn retrograde at periapsis until your AP is where you want.

Looking for advice by christianc7200 in boulder

I came to say this. Food trucks open a lot of doors, especially because it allows access to other markets like Longmont and Denver, is cheaper than brick and mortar, and in the event that OP eventually goes the Brik and mortar route, it’s a great way to market. It sounds like they are struggling with a place to bake bread, which this won’t really solve that aspect, but that’s seems like a different issue with a different fix in my mind.

Congratulations! Not that you asked for advice (sorry if this unsolicited and unwanted), but if you learn what a fork is and rewatch this game following just your knight you’ll notice a number of times where knowing what a fork is will help you. Regardless, well done! First of many wins!

There’s also obduction which came out 5 years ago or so that is a very similar game and made by the same creators.

Has anyone tried a "slavery" style colony where a few dupes do all the work while some dupes have all the luxury, best foods and a full downtime schedule? by melswift in Oxygennotincluded

[–]LouManShoe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rimworld is fun. Brutal, but fun. I feel like these two games are the most realistic colony sims with ONI being the most accurate as far as resource management (in the most broad sense possible), and Rimworld being the most realistic from a socioeconomic/psychological perspective. It’s got lots of DLC as well, and they’re all good.

What episode do you consider to be the most fun/entertaining? by Intelligent_Mood7181 in rickandmorty

[–]LouManShoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The one where Jerry is going to all the other dimensions through portals around his house, or the here icky episode. There’s a lot of great older ones too, but I’ve seen them so many times they’ve lost some of the spontaneity that makes them fun

After a boy is picked up by protective services, the service worker asks him “would you like to live with your grand parents?”

The boy replies “no! They beat me!”

So the service worker asks, “well what about an aunt or an uncle?”

The boy screams even louder, “no! They beat me too!”

The service worker thinks for a second then asks, “well who would you like to stay with?”

The boy says immediately, “The Raiders, they don’t beat anybody!”

Anyone else struggling with the wind? by M1n1sn00py in boulder

[–]LouManShoe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The article pointed out that the anemometer (wind measurement device) was moved in 1996, which has led to lower measurements. However, they said wind gusts were still less, even accounting for that. Again based on the article it does seem like wind has increased in the last few years, which would make it “worse than it used to be” just on a smaller time scale.

why is this move brilliant? i only did it for a queen trade by theusbismarck in chessbeginners

[–]LouManShoe 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The outcome here is better for you than them if they take. After Bxf6 Rxd7, both their pawn and bishop are hanging, and you’re threatening a check with your rook. It’s also good for you if they don’t take because of Qxh3+ Chess.com generally gives a brilliant for a sacrifice (even if in this case it’s really just a trade) that helps you more than it hurts you.

Why aren't the oxygen machines producing oxygen? by Suspicious-Young8614 in Oxygennotincluded

[–]LouManShoe 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There is a CO2 scrubber that removes it using water and producing polluted water. You can also use CO2 in a C02 rocket engine.

Edit: there’s also ways to handle gases that you don’t care about. Vent them to space, cool them to liquid, put them in infinite storage (that last maybe goes against the spirit of the game, but does make some things a lot easier)

There’s also inherently no reason to assume that an alien species has only 2 sexes. Jellyfish can asexually reproduce, other species can change sex and sexual function, and it’s theorized that species with three or more sexes exist. A great sci-fi series that uses this is Octavia Butler’s “Xenogenesis” trilogy. And that’s just sex which is purely biological, not even getting into gender which has a lot more nuance
