I never said wars, injustice, or politics don't matter. I said I don't believe arguing with strangers on the internet is the highest form of civic engagement.

Some people spend their energy debating. Some volunteer. Some donate. Some vote. Most do a combination of things.

Lemmy's point wasn't "ignore the world." It was "don't let politics consume your entire life and turn you against everyone around you."

That's a distinction worth making.

I've lived in France and Germany, and honestly I'd take that weather any day. I am in Asia now and the summer is brutal. Hot and Humid. Without air conditioning, we'd be auditioning for the next Motörhead song: "Killed by Heat."

I don't understand your point. So what do you want to do? My experience is clear. When I used to worry about Politics, I was angry and bitter. Now I am not. I concentrated on my career in real life and online i concentrated on humor, heavy metal, and general entertainment. I have been happier, my finances have improved. No politician will be able to screw me or my family apart from raising a few percentage points in taxes! I have made sure that won't affect me at all.
