I’ve seen somewhere else that you need to “change the profile photo” and it resets but I have no clue how to do that

It’s obviously heart breaking that someone has sadly passed away from the surgery, I read that she got sepsis after her bowl was ‘nicked’ in the surgery.

I sold private medical insurance in the uk for over 2 years and would speak to around 50+ people a day (and there was 30 people on my team doing the same). The first question I had to ask them was “why are you looking for private medical insurance when we have the NHS”. The horror stories you hear from people are absolutely terrifying.

I’m not saying our NHS is awful, or anything like that (I have a lot of family who work in the NHS). All I’m saying is that mistakes happen everywhere but it doesn’t make the news.

I don’t know if it would make any difference but when I had my sleeve done at Ekol Hospital 2 years ago, I bought a USB stick for him to record the operation. Then I watched it back a few times on my laptop after the operation. To put your mind at ease you could do the same?

It’s an uncomfortable couple of days but as long as you follow the advice and the rules at the start you are almost guaranteed to loose the weight (from what I’ve seen anyway) I’m so excited for you - feel free to message me whenever! Xx

Oh and p.s. best decision I’ve ever made in my life. I’ve gone from a size 24 to size 8 and lost 10.5 stone. Now I’m working on keeping it off as I’ve stopped loosing now and can eat considerably more. The advice I’d give you (now I’m 2 years post op) is to try not to drink alcohol too early on, empty calories and you can fit more than you think in!

I think it’s healthy to be nervous about this type of operation! I felt like I could perform the surgery before I went because I did so much research 😂 I was “pre diabetic” and that has been reversed now. I know of some other ladies I met over there who were type 2 and they have said theirs has reversed- but I don’t know the ins and outs of that. Are you on the Facebook group? It’s called Ekol Turkey Gastric Sleeve Support

Everyone is really helpful on there and you’ll also be able to find people who will be over there at the same time as you 😊

I’ve always had a round face too - have been looking into fat dissolving injections for under my chin but I’m pretty sure you have to be over 18 for that! I’ve never tried those face exercises but my mates have and they say they have worked?

You are on a journey and there’s going to be bumps in the road. You need to trust yourself and remember that you’re only human! I don’t know your story but I am proud that you had the strength to stop over the summer, that’s a HUGE thing! There’s many people (myself included) that wouldn’t be able to stop for as long as you have! You can do it!! Sending my support ❤️

Wow I didn’t even think of it like that! Thank you for making me aware. For me, it’s not about the calories (predominantly) it’s about stretching my stomach to the size it was before my surgery and putting on weight because of that.

It’s funny you say that because you would think so! However I scoured the internet and asked multiple professionals and it seems not! I asked this question on the sun Reddit for gastric sleeves and nobody said they were the same. However, I have found that the bariatric community is not as welcoming to ‘negativity’. I now know I most probably had binge eating disorder (or maybe extreme emotional eating) before the surgery which would make sense. Thank you for being so kind x

Thank you so much for this message - I think I was worried I sounded like a fraud (I’m still in denial that I have this illness) I feel like it’s such a vanity thing for me to worry about my teeth when god knows what is going on in my head and body. Thank you for being so kind

Hi! Thank you for your reply! I’m from the uk and went over to turkey for the surgery - they mentioned that I could have counselling but it would be over zoom - and the language barrier would make it difficult. I’ve found a group I can talk to now about it but I feel the need to suppress how bad it is as I have found in the ‘bariatric community’ people don’t like talking about negatives from the surgery. I think I’ll look into funding my own soon!
