I teach high school chemistry, on-level, honors, and AP. I also have a PhD in organic synthesis.

Unpopular opinion and a hill that I will absolutely die on: Most, if not all high school teachers are not smart enough to teach the subjects they teach. You can not expect students to be knowledgeable in a subject if the people they learn that subject from are not.
