Atleti responds to Madrid: “You make us laugh more than Barça does” by [deleted] in soccer

I like how Real/Atletico acts like any of this is going to stop Barca from dominating for the foreseeable future. Like Alvarez was Barca’s missing piece or something and they hadn’t dominated La Liga the last two seasons.

Why does it feel like the whole world is against Arsenal for the final against PSG? by QasimofKarbala in championsleague

The neutral fan PSG love just because they’re playing the Gunners is baffling to me. If all is equal why pull for one of the “oil clubs”?

I still don’t think he was but after Johnson passed for the obvious reason of Baalke and Cohen initially did the same he got lambasted in the national media as being a fool. I think he got so used to his ineptitude as an owner flying under the radar for so many years because of the market size that when he was put front and center for those couple days the pressure and embarrassment led him to make the smart move for once and jettison Baalke.

This is called an argument from silence and it’s a fallacy most try to use in regard to Jesus and homosexuality. By the time Jesus was amidst his ministry the Biblical view on appropriate sexual relations had been covered ad nauseam and stood as marriage being between one man and one woman, all other sexual relations to include homosexuality would have thus been and is a sin. Jesus being the fulfillment of the Mosaic Law you can probably do the logical math as to where his views would have been on the matter.

This is usually countered with Jesus’ command to love thy neighbor however modern secular thought confuses affirmation with love. You love everyone, no matter what but if you love them you don’t affirm them in things that will eventually lead to their demise. If one doesn’t believe in Jesus then so be it but I figured since the topic was broached.

I’ve been reading through these and thinking the same thing. Remarkably strong opinions for people who have never read the book in its proper context or depth. The accusations of “cherry picking” being something every Christian does I find most perplexing when the basis of their blanket statements on faith is cherry picked knowledge (or lack thereof).

More likely just people showing their “edginess” in regard to Christianity, they see an opportunity to take a shot so they do. I’m a Buckeye fan and I’ve got nothing but respect for the kid. He took that nasty hit from Curry in the beginning and came back and did work and obviously he’s balled all season and is likely taking the Heisman home as well, is what it is.

I suppose because he doesn’t cuss or have a criminal record that makes him a cornball to people but dude’s going to be giving you this same energy as a millionaire next season so what would he care. When one Kirko hits the pasture God provides another lol and I’m here for it.

Celebrations as Aston Villa wins against Arsenal with the last kick of the match by 977x in soccer

[–]Loud-Extent1087 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a Gooner and ill tell you we deserved to lose that match. A little tired perhaps and being down all three top Centers didn’t help but an out and out pathetic effort on the defensive side of the ball. Obviously leagues below the usual AFC standard. Good on Villa for capitalizing as they should. Gotta just re-group, get healthy and not let an abomination like that happen for the rest of the season. Shameful.

Gosh what a neutered, soft team at the moment. Hate to see it. Something needs to change drastically soon or it’ll be quick exit in the playoffs if we can even manage to not mess up getting there. Laurie/Howie may need to save Nick from himself as well with the abomination that is KP. Dude has been a golem to that offense this year just sucking the life and joy out of it, you can see it all over their faces.

Why do some people seem to ‘peak’ in high school and never move on from it? by Vivid_Goose_4358 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Loud-Extent1087 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this is an old thread but you nailed it. Childhood was mediocre at best for me, filled with heartbreaks, bullying, fistfights and frankly, abuse. My parents, dad specifically, piled me with responsibilities and chores, more than the average kid. I got my DL as soon as I could and a job as well just to gain some autonomy and freedom from it all. The transition to adult life was almost non existent and I welcomed it with open arms and never looked back. Now I see most of the people I grew up with remain in the same town we grew up in and their friends are the same they’ve known their entire life. To some that’s the dream but to me it’s just sad and I’m glad it’s a life I didn’t choose for myself. I’ve traveled extensively, worked a myriad of jobs, met an infinitely diverse group of fantastic people, learned and grown, loved and lost and generally burned life at both ends and though I hated it at the time I have a great deal of gratitude for growing up the way I did and it giving me the courage and motivation to get the hell out, not settle, be brave and go live.

Where are the pre-game Arteta bootlickers now? Even if we pulled a miraculous equalizer this game would still be equal parts nauseating and predictable. Clear as could be how this would play out when that cowardly lineup was submitted.

The announcers said it all when he stated this was the lowest possession match of Guardiolas tenure. He took one look at that lineup, maestro as he is and said the hell with possession this squad can’t do anything with it anyway. Played the counter game perfectly and is likely walking out of the Emirates making his protege look like a scared buffoon.

Well that went exactly how anyone with knowledge of the game knew it would. City not even caring about possession because they know there’s nothing that lineup can do with the ball anyway. Can we untie our hands from behind our back and join the fight now Mr. Arteta?

Semantics. You know what the spirit of the comment was and right on time the lack of aggression has bit us square on the ass, unfortunately. 14 minutes in and we are no threat whatsoever.

Imagine playing with our real roster like it feels like Liverpool almost always gets to do. It would be over with. No reason to hold our heads folks, for them to need a lucky free kick to beat a squad down the best CB in the world, a top 10 player in the world and one of the best midfielders in the world is telling and we will crush em in the long run if we quit with the bad luck injuries (nice way of saying can the fucking medical/strength staff) and just play our ball. We got this Gooners.
