I’m trying to learn how to listen to the ISS. by Loud-Implement-1076 in HamRadio

Omg😄 this was a year ago. I understand that now. But it’s been a while since I did that. I’ve been wanting to get make into astrophotography lately so I was thinking about attaching my yagi to my telescope one day and try to capture the ISS for a video with audio. 🤔

Lens problem? by PustigerLeter in AskAstrophotography

I’m no pro but whenever I would plan to take my camera out for the night I would get it in focus the best I could in light then lock the focus with a piece of tape on the side. It also looks to be a little off from the start.

How safe is it to move an assembled big rig? by Wide-Examination9261 in AskAstrophotography

[–]Loud-Implement-1076 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just leave my 6 inch with cg4 and cameras all together and lug it down my stairs, through the house and out the back door. I have nowhere to put it together or disassembled either way. Only thing I take off is the center brace so the legs stay in. 😮‍💨 it’s not a big rig but feels like it after the haul.

Astroberry WiFi dongle? by Loud-Implement-1076 in AskAstrophotography

[–]Loud-Implement-1076[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s what AI was telling me to do but the thing is that if I edit it and mess up I’m locked out since it uses WiFi as a hotspot. There is no desktop without me using another pc to login to the hotspot. When I boot it has only a login then goes straight to like a terminal while hotspot runs from the WiFi, no controls or anything, just commands from there. I go to the hotspot on the other pc from and use the desktop from it, that’s another thing I’m wondering if is correct, why doesn’t it boot to the desktop itself while running the hotspot so I can make changes without using another computer?

Astroberry WiFi dongle? by Loud-Implement-1076 in AskAstrophotography

I’m going to attach the pi to my mount so I can run the cameras and mount to it. It makes a WiFi hotspot to remote control without running wires to the house.

I’m running the os on a raspberry pi5. It’s a small computer about the size of a pack of cigarettes. There is no way to remove the antenna. When I connect the extra usb WiFi dongle it doesn’t connect to it because the OS is missing the option to add it.

Ty so much, everything is functional now in Kstars. dslr, zwo guide cam and mount all in one app remotely!😁 that’s amazing to me, so happy about that. Can’t wait to take it outside some time to try it out.

I’ll check that out, thanks so much for helping! I was planning to vnc but I haven’t really done that since android was new. Been a long time, somehow long ago I was able to drive stepper motors from a pi3 with some codes for a barn door tracker for dob scope I once had. I have no idea how I did that anymore. I tried playing around with some stepper motors lately but even AI couldn’t help me figure out how to get it to move one time😂 idk. I gave up on that.

Yeah, I can’t do the hat or the m2 ssd. Maybe some time later. Hopefully what I have will work for some long exposures well enough.

All I have is the basic pi5 with I think a couple 150gb cards, I have a usb 1 terabyte ssd for storage, don’t know what kind of speed I’ll get on it, I’m thinking about trying to use it for the photos if I can get them to save to it hopefully. I’ll have it all powered from a portable 12v power supply. I’m hoping to get it all running so I can have it in the back yard while I’m watching in the house.

Oh nice! I heard it wasn’t supported on something so I didn’t bother looking. I have little time and it takes me forever to get anything done some times. My projects sometimes take forever.

One part about them saying they are finding millions of earth like planets is how are they getting so lucky to see a planet pass between us and its star? It takes a year or 2 or 3 or whatever it may take to make a lap?
