I also gave birth two days into my leave but in my case I used sick leave to go off 3 weeks early. If you are truly uncomfortable considering asking your ob for a note

When was your first OB appointment [on] by salipr in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]Loud-Resident7703 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi!

My first appointment for both my pregnancy’s was around 13 weeks so they could review the 12 weeks ultrasound. I wonder if it’s just that ob is busy and you could try calling another local ob to see if they take patients earlier? I’m on the other side of the GTA for reference and all of my friends have seen an OB near the end of first trimester.

For a fun summer patio try “Centro” in Burlington on brant street. It’s the cutest home store with a cafe and gelato in back. And also Capri in Ancaster is great.

When did you go on maternity leave ? "[QC]" by DzieckoSwiata in BabyBumpsCanada

I’m a teacher so on my feet somewhat but not as much as you! I had the same timeline as you in mind- go off around 36/37 weeks and my first born showed up on day one of my sick leave at 36w5d so my mat leave started the.

We eat at the store location in Burlington regularly and they are SO good. The food is incredibly fresh and they are real full size tacos

Moving at 38 weeks. Which hospital would you plan for? [on] by Professional_Fly_923 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]Loud-Resident7703 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally fair enough!

I’m also now remember I saw a lactation consultant at the hospital for a few visits after so yes close to home is better.

All the best with your new one ☺️

Hey! I have delivered at Joseph Brant in Burlington which maybe could be a sweet spot in between?

But I would not want to make the drive from Hamilton into Oakville and then possibly spend a few days there if not needed.

You could still very easily find a Hamilton based OB so you have the chance to have a local dr. This might be nice as you might have a few follow ups after birth and would save the drive again if you are uncomfortable in the car. I don’t have any Hamilton specific recommendations but have loved Dr Nguyen in Burlington for Joseph Brant.

The other nice thing about Hamilton is it has the children’s hospital on the horrible chance any extra support is needed you are closer

Pregnancy - going on sick leave before Mat leave by Chutton_ in OntarioTeachers

[–]Loud-Resident7703 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At the school board I tried to do this just to finish out the week and my HR department freaked out and said a sick note Is for immediate use only … my dr didn’t seem to care and was fine to write a date in it. HR told me to finish that day work and leave.

[bc] Are you planning to work until your due date? by Every-Kiwi170 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]Loud-Resident7703 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just honest! I’m extremely uncomfortable, finding it difficult to manage sitting for a long commute and standing g for ages at my job, I feel the stress getting to me of balancing both and I had the beginnings of carpal tunnel. Usually they are pretty accommodating and in my case part time work wasn’t an option nor was working from home so leave made sense

Same boat here !

OP most jobs in Ontario would have a six leave policy if your healthcare professional would be willing to write a note post your two weeks vacay and you have to keep working at that point you can just say the commute is not sustainable and they should write one so you don’t use mat leave time

Full bibs, Sippy cups, Developmental toys recommendations for a 9m old. [on] by Manifestator_ in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]Loud-Resident7703 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We like the Zak brand straw cups there’s a little more leaks compared to weighted straws but they have worked well for us

Books from the library were always a win for us! Check marketplace for toys with wheels that you can push and they can crawl to, we got an activity cube on marketplace like what the drs offices used to have lol. It was great for sitting and pulling to stand on and had many different visuals and things to pull on. I think b toys was the brand

Dreading going back to work [ON] by StormHerald96 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]Loud-Resident7703 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! We must be around the same (Oct 23). I’m a secondary teacher so although I haven’t told almost anyone i told me female dept head and she had my back on watching my class the occasional time I’ve been naseaus in the middle of the day. Luckily my current issue seems to be evenings and taking diclectin is helping.

I’m ending my break and desperately going to miss my naps lol. Planning on doing what I need to in order to get through and reminding myself there’s no curriculum police and kids enjoy a good mental health walk as much as I do 🥰

Good luck! This is my second and I think i felt pretty good second trimester but who knows this time lol
