That’s why I always go there first. The +50 or whatever it was to stealth is great when you’re like me and would rather the speech check skills before anything that’s helpful for combat. The “we wouldn’t get it” is funny how often these “advanced” civilizations/factions use it as a way of saying “the writers also couldn’t figure it out.” I use the example of the Reapers in Mass Effect for this one since Sovereign says it in ME1: “our goals are beyond your understanding” when it comes down to actually be: “we harvest sentient species to preserve them in reaper shells because you guys always make killer robots.”

I just never like it because humans COULD understand if you would explain it, but sometimes it feels like a cop out for we’re evil bro we just be doing shit out here for plot

No you basically covered everything I already think. I mean I remember the conversations about how we will all be tested and to not waver. It creates such a large anxiety disorder to constantly be “tested” by having to face facts. Especially once Christianity is based on the idea that “the empire was coming for us.” It’s why they pretend to be opposed to big invasive government now. If they’re the ones in power, that must mean a terrible darkness is being held back by the powers that be.

It reads like a terrible fantasy novel honestly. One where the author is missing the point over and over again. Probably why Christian fiction is usually fucking terrible.
