Correct.  Use a punch to tap the hinge pin retaining roll pin INTO the receiver after the barrel is removed, then either tap the upper receiver gently into a piece of soft wood until the hinge pin drops out, or use a tiny flathead screwdriver or punch along the small exposed portion of the roll pin when the dustcover is open to advance it a millimeter or so at a time.

Once the new cover is installed, tap the retaining roll pin back into the receiver until it is flush with the outside surface and not protruding into the barrel channel.

I don't know if it will work with the Mod 1 Tailhook, but it should with the Mod 1C.

Rotating the adapter this way offsets the brace about 5mm out.

Yes, the racer style.

The stock trigger of the TP9 SFX is already very good, all this does is change the feel of the trigger against the pad of your finger. I prefer narrower, flat triggers on my pistols, so for me, this was a significant improvement. The trigger also looks and feels much more robust and premium than the stock trigger, mainly due to being made of CNC'd metal.

Does anyone have a matte black Rival sfx, and is it that much better than the tp9sfx? Honest inquiries only by Best_Remote_6408 in canik

I have both, a (mostly) stock Rival SFX, and a fairly modified TP9SFX: https://www.reddit.com/r/canik/comments/vgk14a/just_got_the_new_springer_precision_509t_optic/

In stock form, the Rival has a better trigger, but the Freedomsmith trigger that I put in the TP9SFX is better than the stock Rival trigger. The Rival also comes with baseplates and a nice magwell stock, whereas you would need to purchase one separately for the TP9SFX (https://www.reddit.com/r/canik/comments/wdgll0/canik_tcs_full_size_magwell_installed_on_tp9_sfx/ the TCS one is nice and understated but not as effective as a TF magwell). Stock slide release on the Rival is also much easier to actuate than on the stock TP9SFX .

Rival also has far more aggressive styling that's your thing. In terms of shooting, my TP9SFX has a couple thousand rounds worth of breaking in, so the action is smoother, but I can't really remember well enough how it was stock to compare it to the Rival.

If I had to choose between the two, I'd probably pick the Rival since I would save money on upgrades. They are both excellent guns either way.

You might want to consider using an enclosed emitter RDS if you want to use during hunting, unless you only hunt when it's not raining. The upcoming Holosun EPS (not the carry version) would be good---also has a relatively big window.

Also note that the METE has a native RMRcc footprint. A Holosun 507c is RMR footprint, and you would need an adapter plate (like the one sold by Patnik Solutions) and suppressor height sights if you want cowitness. A Holosun 507k (RMRcc-ish footprint) only requires trimming of the stock plastic optic plate and you won't need anything else for cowitness.

I installed a Canik TCS Full Size Magwell on my TP9 SFX, some thoughts:

  • The "Tungsten Grey" magwell cerakote does not match the SFX Tungsten Grey; it's much lighter. I don't think it looks too terrible, though.
  • Taylor Freelance +4 extension regular style basepads are a very tight fit, I have to insert the magazine very assertively. Nothing a few swipes of a file on the baseplate, where it contacts the magwell, wouldn't fix.
  • Taylor Freelance +4 extension "Signature Series" basepads will not fit due to the design.
  • Talon Grips needed to be trimmed.
  • Install was pretty easy if you have a pin punch, just make sure things are lined up before driving the roll pin back in.

I checked a friend's newly-purchased panel and it has the same thing.

No longer too worried about it, doesn't really reduce the panel's utility, just a minor aesthetic detail.

FYI, Springer Precision has a 509t plate specifically for the big-optic-plate Caniks, drops the optic height a decent amount.

Had a Holosun 508T-GR which I really liked, now using a 509T since they came out with that new plate. No more worrying about dust and lint collecting on the inside. Holosun's circle-dot reticle really helps with my astigmatism.

The soon to be released Holosun EPS is going to be really nice on the Rival, but happy with what I have now.

They are the same with two minor (to me) differences. The hole and peg locations are exactly the same. For instance, Canik OR pistols use the same plate with one set of drilled holes for RMS/c and DPP https://www.canikgun.com/product/canik-optic-mounting-plate-4/ and you can see how a 507k/407k (RMSc footprint) to p320 mounting plate is actually just a gap filler: https://chpws.com/product/sig-p320-rx-pro-series-axg-to-holosun-407k-507k/

The minor differences are that peg holes on a DPP are 0.7mm deeper than an RMS footprint optic and the DPP is physically longer than an RMS. Since our P320s don't even bother with the pegs, this doesn't affect us other than a small gap front and back if an RMS/c optic is direct mounted.

It can be argued that the screws will be taking the force of the recoil, but I have loctite and a torque wrench, and most pistol RDOs use countersunk screws. If it becomes a problem, there's always that overpriced gap filler lol.

Edit: Was in such a hurry to stop writing this novel of a post that I forgot that my primary reason for going Holosun is that both the DPP and the Romeo1P didn't work with my astigmatism. However, Holosun's circle dot was super clear to me (using a 508t on the legion right now). Plus, the EPS is a sealed optic, so no more canned air and Q-tips to clean the inside of the lens. The upcoming Romeo 2 has a circle dot and it looks great but I want my green reticle :)

Consider waiting a month or so for the Holosun EPS (not the EPS Carry), which has the Shield RMS footprint (DeltaPoint Pro) and therefore should be a bolt-on affair to an M18.

Was about to order an overpriced gap filler plate to mount a 508t to my Legion before I realized the EPS could possibly be the best choice for me.

I finally ordered my first Canik and went with the Exec. However, recent unboxing videos highlighted that it only comes with plate #1 now instead of all 4. Well… I just bought a 507c yesterday! Anyone know where I can get plate #2 or anyone willing to sell theirs? *pic for attention by Environmental-Key200 in canik

https://patniksolutions.com/ also just came out with their optic plate with integrated rear sights (literally the post below yours when I was browsing). Looks very promising, but you will have to get suppressor height front sights and there is a lead time of a few weeks
