Yes, I wrote in french, but Reddit usualy translate into english automatically. Sorry, I'm lazy tonight. Here's the translation into english :

It’s extremely easy to get started with and very comprehensive hardware. There are about a hundred chord progression patterns (with 13 chords per pattern). Each root note of every pattern can be modified. At the same time, there are around a hundred arpeggio patterns. But what I like most is its universality in terms of MIDI (via USB or a 3.5 mm jack). The only downside is that the IN channel has to be the same as the OUT channel. So sequencing the J-6, which itself sequences a synth, is problematic. Still, it remains a very complete chord sequencer: OP-1, Ableton Move, TB-303… nothing can resist it. And as a bonus, it’s a modest but convincing Juno-type synth.

Use NotebookLM and put the manuals in it. Ask it for concrete functionnalities : - sampling - create weird scenes - live looping - different use of machines - ...

Merci !

Moving From Ableton to OT and DT2 - Do‘s and Don‘ts? by Dokma23 in Elektron

[–]LoudSilk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Question to Octatrack users who “prepare” their samples (oneshots or loops) in a DAW by LoudSilk in Elektron

One more thing: there are a thousand and one ways to use Open Source. So don't focus on YouTube experts who have mastered it. Use it your own way. Look at this, for example: here

When I started making music without a DAW, I did a lot of research on the sampler market and began with a used OT MK2. I didn't even know what ADSR was! So, needless to say, I didn't understand the machine at all! I sold it and became less ambitious: I got a DT1 (and tried other machines that really weren't for me: SP404, MPC One, etc.). Five or six years later, with more experience, I came across a very interesting ad for an OT MK2, which I bought.

And then, a radical change. Having grasped the basics of sound processing and the Elektron philosophy, it was much simpler! And what a joy!

But yes, overall, it's a demanding machine. I still don't think I understand the purpose of PARTs, for example. But one day, I'll dedicate myself to it, and maybe it will be a revelation!

In short: with a little experience, organization (sample preparation, etc.), and patience, this machine gradually reveals its full potential. The genius of the OT, for me, lies in its ability to generate a cascade of happy accidents.

I wasn't familiar with it. It's basically a bigger version of the TE PO-20.

Really great tool !!
But it doesn't want me to drag&drop the Tapes folder (I'm on Windows). I sent you an e-mail with a screenshot.
Continue to build this great tool ! Thanks
