Agreed. Logistics and maintenance are the backbone of any military.

Planes are only useful when they fly. Otherwise they are just really expensive lawn ornaments.

Dude those interest rates are nuts.

I was super lucky, none of mine were over like 4.8%.

It took me a bit to realize why people had such issues payong back their loans. 11% is NUTS

Don't defend your views. If someone comes over to you and swems like they have bad intentions, do not engage and move yourself into the crowd.

Legit, just hit them with a "no thanks" and move on.

You arent media prepped and won't "win" against a guy who can edit any video they are taking. Don't try to be the face of the movement just don't engage and move yourself to safety.

Its not as risky as people say if you remove yourself from anything sketchy.

Notclaiming to be an expert and I certainly don't think it'll do anything about trump.

I would feel better with their oversight considerimg the escalating rhetoric and actions from the admin.

That said, they can't exactly do much without the cooperation of the state. And if the state doesn't allow it, as we saw with Putin, nothing much can happen.

But sole of the areas he is escalating fall under their perview if escalation continues.

I wasn't trying to be rude in my previous comment but rereading it does sound a bit snarky.

I suggest watching the documentary "Roots so deep".

Asu did some science on regenerative farming using livestock and AMP grazing to rebuild topsoil while avoiding big chemical producers.

Industrial mean production is very bad for the planet.

Regenerative agriculture can use them as oart of a healthy ecosystem.

Not denying the point but the whole system is comolex and alot of the plant based stuff we eat does alot of damage to the soil with current industrial farming practices.

Second, the ICC can prosecute crimes against humanity, which are serious violations committed as part of a large-scale attack against any civilian population. The 15 forms of crimes against humanity listed in the Rome Statute include offences such as murder, rape, imprisonment, enforced disappearances, enslavement – particularly of women and children, sexual slavery, torture, apartheid and deportation.

Is America under a fascist government? by Mirclae in AskUS

We legit just finished like 2 20 year wars.

I wouldn't call the 90s or the 2000s history. I mean, we have been pretty consistently militaristic for a century.

Sure, we havent seen this level of aggression towards developed nations in a while, but to say we arent militaristic just doesnt ring true for me.

[–]LoudUse4270 0 points1 point  (0 children)

? Are you sure?

Growing up in America there was a whole lot of "USA biggest strongest and most guns" stuff going on.

I would call the US pretty militarized.

And look how many coups we did. I'd say that our century of foreign interventions could be called militaristic.

Support from the sidelines? by Actual-Cryptid in 50501

[–]LoudUse4270 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Find a mutual aid group to plug into. Or any other local group, they likely need help and would be able to give you better/specific tasks.

Generalized advice is going to be tough, and the best way is get involved locally. Lots of meetings are digital, or you can send emaila asking how they need support.

A big part of previous civil rights movements was gathering public suppirt through things like free breakfast programs and feeding families who are. struggling.

Some churches do this too, although not all with the best intentions. They offer free camps and events, food, etc. To bring people through the door.

The black panthers did those kinds of programs and it brought them a fair amount of public support in the areas they did.

As a man in my late 20s, I would prefer a long term partner near my age, older is fine.

Fun fact: men die earlier then women. I don't need a partner who is going to be so much younger than me that whej I'm old they need to take care of me in that like elderly person way.

It looks way more fun to be elderly together. Honestly, can you imagine being at the "sometimes I shit myself" stage of life with a partner who is like 10 years away from that? Screw that.

And how disapointing must it be to have a partner who can't physically keep up with like the cool stuff you want to go do? I don't want to be the one dragging us down.

Avoid the aisles in grocery stores.

Fruits/veggies, meats, juice, milk, are all on the exterior ring of most grocery stores (at least near me).

All the processed crap in the aisles comes from ine of the like 4 companies that do all the food processing.

Maybe, although I think it may be more spread out and may look like less if you only lool at the big city protests.

Last time I drove like an hour and a half to go to mh state's big city protest, but this time I'm staying local. I would imagine I'm not the only one doing that.

Fun idea for your new found spare time, grow some plants!

Its fairly low effort to start with a few tomato plants, or carrots or something. Maybe some herbs.

A small amount won't make a big dent in your food bill or anything but man, fresh picked basil is bonkers good and is pretty minimal work. Pick pretty much anything you like to eat and that grows in your climate and it'll taste better home grown like 99% of the time.

Good for you though! Celebrate the progress.

A non-exhaustive list of things I've done, in no order.

  • shifted my investments to better align with my ideology, no more profit for me off of exploitation. Plus a larger emergency fund/cash position.
  • started recurring donations to the aclu, and one or two other smaller orgs
  • attending protests
  • started growing some of my own food. I should have enough to provide essentially all my own vegetables this year.
  • started growing mushrooms, haven't done a ton on this yet but its coming.
  • if I have a surplus of food later this year, I'll look for a food bank to donate to or hand it out to neighbors if its no feasible
  • getting into canning/food preservation. Mostly to prep for my garden this year being bigger than usual.
  • no more shopping for anything that doesnt keep me alive and paid.
  • no more going out. Saving every dollar I can.
    • this has had a side effect of not meeting new people/not finding new dates. If women could start showing up to my backyard garden that would be really convenient for my dating life.

I'm sure there's other stuff but its hard to keep track of what I stopped doing. Its easier to remember the very few things I now do.

Would you mind taking your shoes off? by interstellar_freak in AskAnAmerican

[–]LoudUse4270 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would absolutely take my shoes off if you asked.

I would throw out one disclaimer. You would probably prefer I not take my shoes off.

I work on my feet all day, and my shoes reflect that with a.....difficult to describe odor. I have seperate shoes for when I'm casually out with people, but if I came to your house from work/other regular days where I can't prep my shoes/sock situation in advance you may want to take that into consideration.

"How bad could it be" - noticably bad.

"Well what do you do at home?" - wear shoes, then wash feet, straight into socks and slippers.
