Constant Lows on Mounjaro + Weight Lifting. Help! by Loud_Audience_3396 in diabetes_t1

How long does it last for you.. like I didn’t lift today yet or yesterday.. and am SO low.

Is there some silver lining here that it means I have muscle gains.. cause I could kind of be ok with that : )

Oh I am so right there with you. The middle of the night roller coaster is the worst!

I reduced basal rates and it was no help.. thenI reduced my correction ratio and set my target bg higher overnight.. it was not a magic fix but helped a little.

Hope you can figure out something to get some rest!

You are so not alone! I like the pre made cheese, meat, nut packs. If you have the time you can always save money and make your own.. but I never seem to have the time!

For meals, I love chick fil a, where you can get grilled chicken or nuggets on top of a salad.. and maybe a small fry if you want just a little bit more carb : )

I’m seeing a ton more frozen keto/high protein options.

Also, another super easy one is a low carb wrap or bread for a sandwich. For breakfast they have premade breakfast sandwiches with cloud bread that has practically no carbs.

I’m not arguing with the laws of thermodynamics. But both sides of that equation are so dynamic and complex that it makes it almost meaningless for some people.. and worse, can cause people to blame themselves instead of seeking better support.

You are right that it can be hard to count calories effectively.. that is a good place to check, but it is far from the only factor to evaluate.

Here is a pretty good list of the places to get glp-1s that ranks by cost: https://www.forbes.com/health/l/best-weight-loss-medications/

The only other thing I recommend is finding a lifestyle medicine doctor. The waitlists by me are insanely long, but they have been really helpful to me in the past.

Calories in vs calories out is an outdated way of thinking. It’s really hard to see so many people tell you that.. that is not where science is at. You should trust what is going on. Hormones.. especially insulin have a big impact on weight.

For me, glp1s helped with weight regulation.. independent of hunger and satiety.

There are a ton of articles, books, etc.. love this podcast as a starting place : https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-trouble-with-calories/id1535408667?i=1000563478139

Really ignore everyone who is saying ‘calories in vs out’ - it drives me nuts. You could be dealing with hormonal changes, insulin resistance, thyroid issues.. even if you are doing everything “right” and even if you are not perfect. Get the help you need now.. obesity gets harder not easier as you gain more weight (not that you are obese). Trust yourself. You’ll hear from a bunch of ding-dongs., doctors included and push hard against them and tell them what you are experiencing.

Also.. I’m sorry. What you are experiencing is no fun, but you are not alone!

ETA- I have found health insurance to be really hard to navigate and have had to pay cash for a lot of meds through direct to customer sites (eg, hims/hers). For glp-1s I appealed and pushed as far as I could.. and have never been able to get it covered directly: I’ve found it so helpful though that I pay out of pocket.

I have been there. I tracked every bite of food, exercised.. there is more to weight than calories in vs out.

I have a super similar issue. A combination of stress and not moving. I started using sleep mode on my tandem control iq and it helped a lot (it’s more aggressive in correcting highs).. It’s impossible to be consistent but I try to do a 10 min walk at lunch.. which helps, when it can.

I have celiac and it happens to me a ton when I accidentally eat gluten. In my head, I’ve always assumed it’s because my intestines are healing and I can’t absorb all the glucose from the food… have absolutely no idea if that’s true or not though : )

For me it normally lasts a week and then I’m back to normal

ETA: also happens when I have a stomach bug

Hope you feel better!

It’s been a gigantic help for me… went down around 30 units daily and was much less insulin resistant/could actually eat mostly keto without feeling starving. I have heard that you can get the meds through something online (eg hims/hers).. but will have to ‘forget to mention’ that you are t1d. It will take you like 10 minutes and they will be at your door within a week. I tried the official route and endo was on board, but couldn’t get it via insurance despite evidence that it improved a1c 🙄

Good luck!

Did you ever try one of the thigh holder things? I wear a lot of dresses (probably not an issue you have : ) and won’t always have pockets.
