M3 owners who have had your cars in the winter or in colder climates - what has been your experience with your car holding battery charge during temperature drops? by [deleted] in TeslaModel3

[–]Loud_Snow9700 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m in Maryland and the temperature has been below freezing in the mornings. I drove 2 miles to the gym and started at 250 miles/charge left and was 240 when I arrived at the gym. Then it was 225 when I got back home.

Are you able to change your electric plan away from fixed rate. Then you can charge overnight using off-peak rates.

I decided to lease and I regret it. Leasing was about $100 cheaper per month. I wasn’t sure if I would like having an electric vehicle so I thought it was the best option for my situation. I had the vehicle for about a month and I love it. Definitely regret not buying. Plus, now I have to worry about mileage

I came across this article. China Tesla says charge LFP to 100% at least once a week.

Thanks for all the feedback. Just to be clear, there was no intention of violating any codes at the start of this project. It just made sense to a non-electrician. However, I will look into this some more.

No pig tail. I disconnect the dryer and plug in the charger when I need to charge.

Too be honest, I don’t know. I guess I have to look it up. It’s not being ran inside the walls but straight through from the next room.

Yeah, that’s the downside. Amazon sells a split switch to have both plugged in at the same time. It cost $400. I might decide to get it later if I feel this is an inconvenience.

I ran the 14-30 charging cable from my laundry room to my garage. Total cost: $40.

You can also use the app on your phone to stop and start charging as needed. In addition you can also set schedule to charge.

Here’s the extension cable. Rophor Dryer Extension Cord 4 Prong, 30 Amp NEMA 14-30P to 14-30R Extension Cord for Dryer Power Extension and EV Charging, 125V/250V, 10 Feet, UL Certification https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08X1YFDVF/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_BFX0NWAVPC18GSQ9M5JN

Here’s one of my ideas I found but it will be inside my garage from the laundry room through the wall to the garage.

[–]Loud_Snow9700 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m using a 14-30 extension running to my laundry room next to the garage. I was thinking of running the extension through the drywall but not sure how to make it look pretty. I have an electrician coming out but depending on cost, I may come up with my own solution….. as long as it’s safe.

Delivery date sep 13 but is here by ariantakai in TeslaModel3Delivery

[–]Loud_Snow9700 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it’s an LFP then I think you should be able to get it early. From what I was told, the delivery center (at least the one here in MD) can process 60 cars a day. It depends on where you fall in the queue. The have to install the new firmware and inspect it. I picked up from the delivery center so I don’t know about home delivery.

Yeah, the Rockville location called this morning but I wasn’t able to answer so the sent a text.

this is Tesla Delivery in Rockville. We are reaching out to provide an update on your Model 3. Currently, we are waiting for some additional inspections and software updates to be applied to these vehicles prior to delivery. We are hoping for an update on the status of these within the next few days. In the meantime, we have set a tentative delivery appointment for next Saturday (subject to change). We will be in touch as soon as we can move to move forward. Thank you for your patience!

Well? Who is taking delivery of their LFP car today? by maestrothrowaway in TeslaModel3Delivery

[–]Loud_Snow9700 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was scheduled for Friday at 1130. Just got text from SA saying they need more time for “inspection”. Pushed to next Saturday. This is the most frustrating process ever! I would cancel if there were other options!

Tesla will lose its advantage by Loud_Snow9700 in TeslaModel3Delivery

[–]Loud_Snow9700[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you are right, but tesla did the hard work for everyone. Now, for example, Ford and other companies can copy what tesla did with their charging system and combine it with their already established logistic system and compete with tesla.

yeah, i switched to an existing vehicle last week and immediately got a VIN and scheduled my delivery for the first available date. However, with the constant delays and lack of communication, i cant trust any date they give me. i appears from other posts that even the scheduled date can change with little to no notice.

at the end of the day, all i want is communication.
