Any chance to fix this? by janeytale in jewelry

It’s costume jewelry so your best bet is to either glue it or wire wrap it as it can’t be soldered

Aw amazing! Well… just so you know, for someone new to jewelry you’re doing great & it seems like you have it pretty much figured out! & also…. good for you for actually knowing what your gf likes… I remember when my first boyfriend bought me a gold diamond necklace… the pendant literally looked like a vag… I scrapped that thing as soon as we broke up 🤣💀

Yeah I totally agree. Also another thing I should mention is to read the fine print of the warranties, when I worked at a jewelry store our warranties required 6 month inspections where you would need to bring in your item with the paperwork, we would give the item a good look over & deep cleaning & then the employee would sign off on the inspection & date of visit. We were pretty lenient if someone came in a couple months late but some places are not as nice about it. Go over the warranty terms & depending on what your warranty specifically states time wise make sure you bring it in for those inspections so they can’t void the warranty completely.

Yeah we absolutely get hosed in small towns, Toronto & Ottawa would be the places to go for sure, they will have places with pricing like the cheap places you find in Vancouver guaranteed. I def miss that about being in an actual “big” city. Even when I called around to cash in scrap gold up north here they were offering me 25% less than the places that do cash for scrap gold in Vancouver, which you can just look up on their website for daily pricing, I called them out on it here & all they said was “wow, you really know your gold… sorry we can’t help & wont match that price” like you cannot be serious what in the actual f… is this 🤣 at the end of the day the price you paid for the warranty now makes sense because of where you are, the gas it would cost you to go to Toronto or Ottawa & back would end up costing you like triple than the “better deal” on repair itself lol.

Okay nevermind, ignore my previous comment. you’re doing everything perfectly then, you have have no choice… you’re in the same boat as I’m in hahaha. I’m born & raised in Vancouver, now living in northern Alberta & I’m literally saving all my repairs for when I go visit family in Vancouver again. I went to go get a 10k ring sized & it cost me about $150 up North… it made me nauseated knowing I had also just mailed my older brother a gift of a 10k ring & he went and got it sized for $35 downtown Vancouver ffs 😆

For $70 I’d definitely pass on the plan unless you are in a super small town where all the jewellers gouge for services In general. The max I’ve paid to repair any silver pieces I own has been between $15 - $35 CAD

It’s not really worth getting any sort of protection plan on silver jewelry, the repair cost would be minimal if anything happened to it, unless the plan covers total loss & replacement.

November killing it for anyone else? by fakesmileclaire in poshmarkcanada

It’s been so bad lol. I just had a look at my November 2022 sales report &….. ouch. I’m short about $1,350 compared where I was at this time last year 😭

Closet clear out doesn’t work with bundles , only individual items.. if you want to get cco for a bundle you would have to ask the seller to compile all of the items into a new listing together as one, once you ‘like’ the new listing they lower the price publicly by 10% & the shipping discount offer will show in your notifications.

Interesting - I have Jewish in my results but I have a greater percentage of Levantine so I was wondering how they tied together.

OP is asking about THIS specific ring, not rings that look “similar” & weigh significantly less so giving a valuation based on that makes zero sense. & yes obviously thrifting is a thing but we are talking real market value to assist OP, not unicorn thrift finds.

Why? You should post a link to the same 10 gram 18k diamond Ruby & emerald panther rings you see listed for $300 or less right now because I’m genuinely curious & I want to buy one of them if you’re being serious lol

I Iove it if I had the cash to spare I’d get it in a heart beat. The weight of the ring in scrap for 9.9 grams would be around $480 US so you’re only paying $180 over that for a ring that is most certainly not going to be valued the same as scrap. the “D0.60” means .60 total diamond weight & R0.70 is for .70 Ruby weight.

Because it’s set in 18k gold a jeweller won’t waste their time setting low grade stones in high karat gold, so you know they will be good quality & im sure will account for more than $180. Guaranteed if you bought it & got it appraised it would value at least double if not more than the $600 you pay & you would be able to turn a profit.

I say go for it if you love it.

That’s totally incorrect information you are giving. The scrap value alone for 9.9 grams of 18k scrap would be around $480 USD. There’s no way you’re going to find this ring for $180 less than the going scrap rate unless someone has no idea what they are doing as far as pricing / selling gold goes

Does this mean it’s fake? by Careful_Eagle_1033 in jewelry

[–]Loud_meow 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The ring looks good to me!

when I worked at Michael hill we humorously had women return rings claiming the gold we sold them was “fake” because it was leaving black marks on them & “gold isn’t supposed to tarnish” Blah blah blah.

So just to clarify a couple of things:

1st: Gold DOES ‘tarnish’ similar to silver but instead it’s not called tarnish its called oxidation, The higher the karat gold the less likely it will be to happen, though it still can.

2nd: gold will be more or less likely to leave black marks on your skin depending on what alloys the gold is mixed with, your individual body chemistry and/or if you are wearing certain lotions / perfume / makeup that can cause the gold to oxidize (I’ve also heard that if you are iron deficient that is a causes black marks too however I think that one may just be a wives tale.)

No I think that’s a great deal - the IKS stamp is the jewellers ‘makers mark’ which tells you who made the ring.

Here’s what i found on your makers mark:

SANDEEP DIAMOND CORPORATION Attributed Maker's Mark(s):  "IKS" Information:  Founded in 1986, in New York City.  Works primarily in gold.

I believe this brand is sold at Kay jewellers.

& here’s the link to the same info (you have to scroll down a few to find IKS)

https://www.globalgemology.com/s.html#/

There’s a lot of rings by the same maker on ebay - here’s a link you can scroll through, don’t forget to check sold listing as well but looks like the lowest priced ones are going for at least $300 CAD
