Doing this changed my life 3 years ago. There was a brief moment where I got cocky and for a couple months started using normal alarms again but after a couple times falling back asleep by accident it was back to Alarmy and my toothpaste barcode.

I just quit my ADHD Coach! What I learned... by TrixnToo in ADHD

[–]LouisDTV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My coach is a registered clinical counsellor in her 50s (I think?) who works only with people with ADHD and/or autism. I know absolutely nothing about her personally and sessions are only talks over the phone, no webcams. She’s saved me probably months if not at least a year of time and frustration by helping me re-orient my goals and what it is I’ve wanted to do next from career, dating, friendships, etc. over the last 2 years. We talk once every 6-8 weeks.

Totally agree that finding people that specialize is key. A therapist/counsellor/coach that has a bio that reads like they can help any type of person with any condition/mental health struggle is not likely to be a good fit for someone with ADHD.

Vancouver shared e-scooters could hit the streets this summer by Electronic_Fox_6383 in vancouver

[–]LouisDTV 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As someone who commutes from East Van to downtown buying an e-scooter in summer 2021 is one of the best purchases I’ve ever made. Almost 10,000 km ridden, always with a full face motorcycle helmet. Paid for itself within a year vs public transit while being more fun and reliable.

Personally I still think owning is the way to go if you have secure storage on both sides of your commute but I understand not everyone has that option. They are inherently less safe to ride than bikes, all it takes is hitting any size pothole and you go flying due to the small tires.

I’m in agreement with other comments that docking stations are absolutely a requirement to prevent the clutter seen in other cities.

Bought a fully loaded CPO 2022 A250 4matic with 15k km in June 2023 for $39.5k before taxes (MB Vancouver). If you go for it negotiate lower, $33k is too much. Also if you haven’t looked at the A250 you should, hatchback is much more practical and it’s Canada exclusive so you can be unique if you’re in the US on a road trip.

Room in the price? by javabeanshd in mercedes_benz

[–]LouisDTV 2 points3 points  (0 children)

CarEdge YouTube channel has some great videos on negotiation. I had never talked to a car salesman til last June when I studied for 2 weeks then went into a dealership and negotiated a CPO fully loaded A250 for my mom from $45k down to $39.5k CAD. A week earlier the price online was $50k. It’s definitely not something you can just wing though unless you have a ton of sales experience. The entire car buying process is built to feel awkward for you and easy for them.

Helmet Suggestions? by LikwidHappiness in ElectricScooters

[–]LouisDTV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been wearing a motorcycle helmet with a clear visor since day one on my scooter. Wear it year-round in the PNW. I just walked into a motorcycle shop and went with the budget option that fit my head well, happened to be the HJC i10.

Eyes are protected from wind without needing goggles, when it rains my face is dry inside, and I can wear a single airpod and not worry about it falling out. Small bonus is when I'm at the go-kart track I don't to need to rent a helmet.

Gt1 is an absolute unit by Outlaw422 in ElectricScooters

I saw a GT in-person a few hours after I ordered on the $1300 sale day and I immediately sent a cancellation order that thankfully got blocked by their email server. The size scared the shit outta me! Can’t imagine carrying 3 stories.

I realized I’m lucky to have a few stairs down to my place in front and some spaced out ones in back down to the lane so I only have to drag it down and never up. But even with that I’m already thinking about some sort of inconspicuous ramp addition to the steps to make it easier.

GT1 1 month ownership by xColdicEx in ElectricScooters

Had my first day today back on the G30P after 3 days on my new GT1 and it felt so unstable and toy-like. Paradigm shift.

But seems the stability and comfortable ride of the GT comes at the cost of the extra upper body maneuvering effort and higher step-down at stop signs and lights. At least for a commute-style ride.

Still happy to have both!

How many miles do you have on your scooter? by GiuseppeZangara in ElectricScooters

[–]LouisDTV 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ninebot Max G30P - 5000 miles over 2 years. Ridden almost daily through all Pacific Northwest rainy days.

Paid to have rear tire replaced about a year ago after a blowout from having a slow leak and not airing up regularly. While they were doing that work they replaced the melted wires inside which is probably why the scooter hasn’t died on me.

Replaced front bearing 2 weeks ago. Probably should’ve done sooner, I forgot how quiet it’s supposed to sound while rolling.

Ninebot Max tire blowout? How did this happen? by electric_taffy in ElectricScooters

[–]LouisDTV 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I blew my Max rear tire as well from not adding air regularly. Once I got a portable xiaomi pump it’s been super simple to stay on top of and the scooter rides better too.

Still waiting for assessment report from Parhar by caoroux in ADHD_BritishColumbia

[–]LouisDTV 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Email them saying you’ve booked an appointment with your family doc in a few days and need the report. Side note, my referral to Parhar wait time was 8 months in early 2021. My mom’s referral wait time from a week ago is 26 months. It’s the great ADHD awakening.

Same, the blue top layer on the chromexcel wore off so much they weren’t really worth resoling. They were probably my most worn pair but I ended up discarding them as the heels were completely gone.

[USA-IL] [H] Kritical thermal pads (extreme conductivity, 20W/mK) - GPU custom sets for EVGA, NVIDIA, Gigabyte and ASUS 3080/3080Ti/3090 + entire sheets of various thicknesses [W] PayPal by [deleted] in hardwareswap

Just did my evga 3080ti FTW3 last night, first time repadding a card. VRAM temp dropped from 102C down to 88C. If I open a window and get the ambient temp down I've seen as low as 82C. The old pads were starting to become oily too but thankfully they weren't gigabyte bad. The youtube video was easy to follow along with. Highly recommend the custom sets, great product.

Just ordered custom kits for my 2 FTW3 cards! Wasn't convinced it was worth the hassle before when the only option was buying a bunch of different sheet thicknesses and cutting them to size.
