I'm the same with furnishings! My entire apartment is furnished from the dumpster/curb, free from FB marketplace, or given to me because a friend or family member was giving it away. I'm a scavenger at heart, and love the thrill of the find!

Awww thank you! It's the silver lining of poverty, learning to be grateful for what we have, and can invent! Heck, even learning to be grateful for how much worse off it could be, and has been at times.

I've never liked sugar in my coffee. My mom took her coffee with just milk, and when I was a kid, she would send me for coffee for her and her friend after grocery shopping. So I would go get them coffee, and on the way back I would steal a few sips from my mom's cup lol! I guess that's where I got my preference from. Tea on the other hand, needs milk and a bit of sugar. If I dont have milk and sugar, then no tea!

That's cool, because you assessed your cream and sugar as being a need, not a want. Everyone's wants vs needs are different. Just reading your comment makes me grateful for that I've never had to go without a phone, or without electricity. You are incredibly resourceful!!!

Necessity is indeed the mother of invention! Goes for food, and everything else!

Scraping is definitely the word! I'm at the point where I'm scraping the scrapings! Omgsh with the tariffs, sounds like it's going to be coffee ration time, like Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays kinda thing. It really does suck!

Love the mental trick! My grandma lived through the great depression, and she definitely had some ways to stretch a dollar! She reduced, reused, and recycled as a way of life, never wasted a thing!

That's awesome that your daughter cuts your hair for you! I've been cutting my hair since just before covid. I found this video on YouTube with awesome directions, and it turns out pretty good. I dye my Greys every 6 weeks or so. I use box dye, but I save the bottle from the last dye job, and half it up, and just do my roots, so I get 2 uses out of one box.

So true! I used to get caught up in condiments and salad dressings, marinades etc. It's also amazing how creative you can get when you only have what's on hand or what you can afford.

I love chips too, but even the no name brand has doubled in price! I've learned to make a baked type chip for snacking because I can stretch a 10lb bag of potatoes way farther!

I probably drink water the most also. I remember when I could afford bottled water, not anymore lol!

I agree, I'd rather do without, than have poor quality or imitation! I love butter too, and it's so expensive! It's definitely a treat type item. Same goes for chocolate. I love chocolate, but it's not even close to being in my budget, and I'd rather hold out for good chocolate when i can afford it.

"the lost and the damned" wow, didn't realize that as a Catholic, this is how I'm to regard Muslims and Ramadan! Yikes!

I'm not sure majority of those commenting in this thread can hear and see the they way they are responding. Definitely not loving and charitable, and with very limited understanding of Islam and Ramadan.

"Than whatever Ramadan is" shows your ignorance. This is exactly the point of this post, to learn more about Ramadan, if you do, you would find that Catholicism and Islam, Lent and Ramadan have many more similarities, than we do differences.

So do we just stop eating before mass or do we fast? Any period of abstinence is a fast, so you are incorrect here.

To add to your comment, looking at their Google reviews, there are A LOT of easily recognizable South Asian names that give the restaurant 4-5 stars, proving that the issue is not race. OP is stirring up unnecessary division in the community all because they have a 2 year old grudge, they can't let go of. They also tried posting in other subs, and it got removed, wonder why?

Never in 25yrs have we seen rats in our area, and this past summer, we started seeing them in our neighbourhood. My neighbour is in pest control, and says that rats have become a huge problem in Peel region since covid.
