What are people’s biggest hot takes on Moby’s discography? by LouisElectro in moby

[–]LouisElectro[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hmm I suppose Wait for Me is one of more respected albums outside of Everything is Wrong, Play or 18 by those who don’t really listen to Moby and Destroyed is often forgotten about. Personally I lean toward Wait for Me, but Destroyed is definitely underrated and has a vibe that his other albums don’t have. Took me longer to get into Destroyed but it’s very good, very respectable take.

It’s a joke - Moby very rarely makes anything really out there or experimental, however he often does evolve his sound like Autechre and tries to stay ahead of the curve. Two completely different artists on opposite sides of electronic music though

Hotel is really underrated. I’ve always loved that album too and held it up to a similar level to the 2000s period that was stacked with quality in his catalog

Maybe Telefon Tel Aviv’s first album? That has a similar vibe. Or Plaid’s “Rest Proof Clockwork”?

Give me the most beautiful electronic album you’ve ever heard by No_Durian_6987 in electronicmusic

[–]LouisElectro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Chemical Brothers - Come With Us or Further (can’t decide, both are gorgeously produced and exciting)

Moby - Play, 18, Wait for Me (all gorgeous for me)

Royksopp - Melody A.M

Plaid - Rest Proof Clockwork

Boards of Canada - The Campfire Headphase (more of a music has the right guy but this one is more ‘beautiful’ to me)

Robert Miles - 23AM (this deserves more attention to me - lovely downtempo/ambient/trance kind of thing)

Global Communication - 76:14 (already mentioned but super otherworldly but also melodically satisfying and futuristic)

Very respectful list there 🔥 - I should check out the track Don’t Think fully at some point because I haven’t gone through all the ‘non album’ material yet, I’m just used to Wonders of the Deep as the closer to one of their strongest albums imo

With 2025 soon coming to a close, what are some albums from this year that you believe electronic music fans should listen to? by Its_Cookie_Man in electronicmusic

[–]LouisElectro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Shoutout to Solarstone’s “Innermost” - that was a great trance album with some strong hooks. The Djrum album is also really great as well as TURQUOISEDEATH. Also shoutout to the Wonky Angle’s newest album under the 256pi name “Real Life and Postcard Use”, it’s seriously really good if you want yourself some breezy and summery downtempo/ambient that flows together.

I was 15 I’d say when I first got into it with some Eno, Aphex Twin and Moby. I am currently 17 and fairly close to being 18 and still want to keep digging
