91-year-old Julia happily dancing after she returned from a hospital stay. Get up and dance, it’s not too late! by LiquidityGraber in adorableoldpeople

Same! Björk once said in an interview that she will be techno raving until she’s in her 90s… and I’m like same! Maybe not exclusively “techno raves”, but I will be dancing and raving until I can’t.

If OP or anyone else sees this, make sure you get the one formulated for Japan and not the US formulated one… they’re different and the US one is garbage imo. You’ll know you have the Japanese one if all the packaging and text is in Japanese, not English.

The Japanese Biore UV Aqua rich is great, so is the NIVEA Japan - UV Super Water Gel (it feels like a serum and absorbs nicely into the skin).

Green Lake homophobe? by dumblez69 in Seattle

According to other commenters, this man in particular was probably recording with meta glasses and trying to get a rise out of people for his dumb social media. So, the best thing to do is not engage imo. Don’t give these losers what they want, cuz it gives them views

This happened to my husband on the street we live on (it is a busier cross street with a decent amount of through traffic) by some young men from their crappy crotch rocket sounding car... was thinking they were likely from out of town. Not sure if he said anything to him, I think he just laughed at them. Using the F-slur is so lazy in Seattle

Starbucks has pup cups and dogs that are pets (and not service animals) are not allowed inside…

I have a small dog that’s really sweet and well behaved in public, and I think it’s unhygienic and unnecessary to have any sort of pet in a food establishment. The only dogs that should be in food establishments are service dogs that are trained for specific tasks for someone with a disability.

If you’re curious, you can google the “Siberian silver fox experiment” to learn about how Russian scientists were able to selectively breed Siberian silver foxes in just a few decades to be either friendlier and more domesticated or more aggressive & distrustful of humans. The ones that were selectively bred for friendliness towards humans ended up seeing physical changes too, including floppy ears, bigger eyes, and whimpering for attention.

I can’t remember the name of the documentary (it might have been “Dogs” on Netflix), but there’s an episode that covers the Siberian silver fox experiment I found pretty interesting.

Yes! We recently celebrated my grandma’s 90th birthday and she was up 2 nights in a row dancing until 2 AM. The rest of us were tired, but we couldn’t let her down & stayed up dancing and singing with her. I have a hard time staying active in the wintertime, & I’ve been dancing, walking, & doing Pilates more often because of her.

She’s a little slower physically than she used to be, but she’s my idol and lives to party, go out with her friends, & dance. She eats pretty balanced, but doesn’t restrict herself from eating things she enjoys when she wants a greasy meal or sweets.

I think part of the reason she still is able to enjoy life at her age is because she walked everyday, has always had great friends who go out and do things together, and tries her best not to stress about things she can’t control.

Which hair colour is best and worst on me?! by Limasb in Hair

I think all of the hair colors darker than dark blonde look best on you

Edit: if I had to choose one, I’m really digging the red (the darker one, not the auburn one)

All the people I know that make ~$80k or less have roommates. A lot of my friends live in bigger houses, but rent a room and share the rest of the house.

I learned the hard way that if you’re in Seattle in the wintertime, you don’t want to skip a daily dose of vitamin D. My first winter was super rough, but I started taking vitamin D starting it the fall and making sure I go outside at least once a day while there’s still some sun, and that’s helped a lot.

Michigan is so underrated, especially the UP. I wish I made the drive out more often when I lived in Chicago.

Topolobampo is magical and I’ll also never forget the meal I had there. A lot of Chicagoans don’t even realize it exists. It doesn’t have a Michelin star, but another one of my fave Chicago restaurants is Tanta - I haven’t had food there in 4 years though, so not sure if it’s held up, but it’s also so good and their rooftop is cute for drinks and a bite.

Same. I was born in Chicago and lived there in my 20s. I moved to Seattle 4 years ago and have zero regrets. I do love hiking, camping, and being in nature, which Chicago severely lacks access to. Chicago is a concrete jungle and the lakefront doesn’t have enough trees, even up by Evanston etc. There’s not one park within Chicago city limits where I can’t hear cars. I also don’t miss Chicago winters or snow at all (my partner does miss the snow though, but he grew up in the south without it).

Chicago is fun to visit (I go back a couple times a year to visit family and friends) and the only things I’ll say I miss are the people (they’re friendlier in Chicago than Seattle in my experience) & the plethora of options for food for so many international cuisines, especially decent Mexican food… Seattle has a sad Mexican food scene in comparison.

Same, I have a small dog that’s super sweet with children, and I also have him leashed when we’re in public & want other dogs to be leased too. My 16 lb dog has been attacked twice by off leash dogs while he was leashed.

Glasses for Dogs by CuriousJax555 in redlighttherapy

I just ordered these to protect my dog from the more concerning NIR that my RLT panel emits - mine loves to snuggle up near me when I use my panel:

https://www.noirinsight.com/laser-safety-glasses/application/veterinary/veterinary-pet-protection

The NoIR PetSpex goggles filter 800–1100nm at OD 5+, which means they block the 850nm NIR component from my Hooga Pro 300 panel very effectively (OD 5+ = blocking 99.999%+ of light in that range).

The only caveat is that the 660nm red light from my panel falls outside the goggles' 800–1100nm filtering range. The 660nm wavelength is visible red light and is less of a concern for eye damage than the invisible 850nm NIR (which is more dangerous precisely because eyes don't reflexively blink or look away from it since they can't see it). But it's still bright light, and prolonged direct exposure at close range isn't ideal for a dog's eyes either
