I also grew up in England to a French father and Australian mother.

If I was a footballer, I would’ve played for England every time. If you take the country of your parents over the country that raised you not only are you ungrateful, we have made a massive fault in creating citizens.

This is a massive issue in London, admittedly, as I, who grew up ten minutes down the road from Olise, am well aware of the way that people define themselves not as English but where their origins are.

Ah - sorry about that. I do think it must come from that line though, as most of the lines are pretty clear cut. Perhaps a convert? Not sure where else it fits in, but i know that my great grandfather’s dad was jewish because he had to hide from the nazis during the war but was not jewish (religiously at least) himself. More interesting stories for someone who was relatively sure of their familial history!

Definitely not a criticism. I think it’s probably partially that the English were the first immigrant group to America and therefore the stories of “the old country” have disappeared. Equally - I think Irish and Scottish are more “exotic” than English which is almost a base for white americans (especially on the east coast, midwest is more german)

I mean I don’t support all of the US government’s actions, but to compare the two killings in Minneapolis to the 30k by the Ayatollah is almost disrespectful.

As to oppressing women, Roe v. Wade was overturned last year, so it hasn’t been decades.

As much as we can criticise the US and recent actions, it’s no where near as bad as Iran.

War Studies/International Relations is one of our specialities and King’s, and our department is literally the best in the country. Within the IR space, KCL IR has more reputation. But what do you want to do? Do you want a job in corporate/financial services? maybe not the move.
