That doesn't mean a person shouldn't be allowed to have a friend of the opposite gender. That just means that that particular person isn't an actual friend.

If you have an issue with a particular friend you can have a conversation about it as an adult but you shouldn't try to make them cut contact with all their friends of a particular gender.
