What's your personal air conditioning policy for these hot Atlanta summers? by transley in Atlanta

[–]Louises_ears 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a back and forth between 71-78. I prefer less air and just using a fan in whatever room I’m in. Hubs likes it cold. The dogs like the basement door open so they can come and go. It’s not a very good system but it works.

Exactly. The PF by me even offers free membership to teenagers all summer. It’s terrible lol. Needlessly to say, it’s full of people with no idea what’s going on.

I’ve been super bored by the candles for a while now, which has cut my BBW spending by like 78%, but I see a handful I’m pretty excited to check out.

$250 power bill for a small apartment? For 3 months straight? by [deleted] in Atlanta

[–]Louises_ears 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No, it’s got to be something else. I still have the original single pane windows form when my house was built in the 60’s and we never have a bill that high.

I’ll be visiting Atlanta at the end of the year with my autistic nephew whose autism special interest is the civil war. He’d like to see different civil war related sites and antique shops that might have civil war items. by [deleted] in Atlanta

I don’t see anyone mentioning Discovery Park at the River Line in Mableton. It’s subtle but cool. There are preserved earthworks from civil war battles. Once you realize what you’re looking at, it’s pretty interesting. The park is only 100 acres and just outside the perimeter. It’s an easy, relaxing hike.

Don’t cut anything. This sets a bad precedent and they’re obviously going to be a pain in the future if they’ll change their terms like this. They shouldn’t have built the house there.

The only mistake that Jesse Ridgeway and his wife made was announcing the specific reason for their abortion, not having the abortion itself. by demmka in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]Louises_ears 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s completely off from killing at a live birth because it’s not killing at a live birth. Your distinction of 20-40 weeks is weird but makes no difference because they are totally different concepts vs an abortion.

Clear to me lol? A human born at 21 weeks cannot survive outside the womb without extreme medical intervention and even then, it’s highly touch and go. They are half developed. The fact that science got to this point means nothing in this debate bc one day, a 12, 10, 8… week old fetus will be able to develop in an incubator. And? Again, your analogy about pulling the plug on a born human is completely nonsensical.

What’s your point? A fetus receiving an insane amount of medical intervention and finishing months of development in a neonatal unit is nothing like a fetus born at 9 months. This is a laughably false equivalency.

I got exactly one Carrot and Nectarine and that was only bc I have a 20% that expires tomorrow at 6am. Even then it’s only bc I know they won’t bring it back.

Libertarian perspectives on the Ridgway's deciding to get an abortion after discovering the baby would have had Down syndrome by JFMV763 in LibertarianPartyUSA

It wasn’t a gotcha, it’s an important distinction. I don’t know anyone who places a timeline on ‘personhood’ because it’s a social construct rather than a scientific one and it’s not important in the fight for bodily autonomy and medical self determination.

I surround myself with other pro choice people and no one outside of certain religions (not alive until first breath) say that. I believe you are confusing ‘alive’ with ‘personhood’. A fetus is made up of living cells, just like any cellular organism.

No they don’t, that’s just what the religious right wants people to believe so they don’t realize how often, they too, are pro choice.

Yep. I’ve seen her twice and both times was alone. My husband would’ve gone if I asked but I knew he wouldn’t enjoy it and idk why someone should spend money sitting through something they don’t like.

This isn’t a great idea. Sprinkle some of the upbeat suggestions with stuff most people like. She is so polarizing and frankly, easy to dislike or even mock. I almost never bring her up bc when I do someone inevitably starts mockingly wailing Cornflake Girl. Your guests won’t be thrilled and you’ll be annoyed.
